March 30 - April 5, 2014

  • On Monday, March 31, 2013 at 01:21 AM, an officer was dispatched to State Route 2 Westbound near State Route 58, for a possible intoxicated driver. The officer observed the vehicle on State Route 2, westbound, just west of State Route 58. The officer observed the vehicle weaving and driving outside of its marked lanes. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. John J. Gill, age 32 of Amherst, was charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Weaving and Marked Lanes.

 

  • On Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 12:55 AM, an officer was stationary at a business on North Main Street and observed a vehicle pass by at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Brian Cooksey, age 51 of Amherst was arrested for Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170% and speed.

 

  • On Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at approximately 8:45 PM, an officer observed a vehicle being driven on North Lake Street, approaching Milan Avenue. The vehicle drove through the intersection while the traffic light was red. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Timothy Young, age 24 of Elyria, was charged with Red Light and Open Container in Motor Vehicle.

 

  • On Friday, April 4, 2014 12:22 AM, an officer on patrol on North Leavitt Road observed a driver commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Timothy Parker, age 34 of Lorain, was charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, OVI State Refusal and Turning at Intersections. He was also found to have two warrants for his arrest out of another agency and was later turned over to that agency on the warrants.

 

  • On Friday, April 04, 2014, at approximately 5:50 PM, an officer was dispatched to the area of Cleveland Avenue and Washington Street in reference a criminal trespass complaint. It was learned there were several juveniles on the property of a business who were ordered several times not to return. While the officer was en route, the police department received a second criminal trespass complaint from another business. The second caller located the same juvenile males standing on a corner on Cleveland Avenue. An investigation was conducted and two juvenile males, ages 15 and 16 of Amherst and Lorain, were cited for criminal trespass. The third male, age 15 of Lorain, was given a verbal warning for Criminal Trespass. They were released to their parents.

 

  • On Saturday, April 05, 2014 at 10:58 PM, officers were dispatched to Brookside Drive for a report that a taxi driver was assaulted by three males and a female. The complainant advised one of the males tried to rob him. An investigation was conducted and a male and female were located in the woods nearby. Denise Broyles, age 51 of Amherst, was cited for Disorderly Conduct-Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct-Persisting and Disturbing the Peace. Adam Oneil, age 34 of Amherst, was charged with Assault, Obstructing Official Business, Disorderly Conduct-Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct-Persisting and Disturbing the Peace. The other two males were identified and later served their charges. Jeffrey Rosenthal, age 54 of Amherst, was charged with Assault and Obstructing Official Business. Cody Broyles, age 20 of Sheffield Lake, was charged with assault.
