March 16 - March 22, 2014

  • On Sunday, March 16, 2014, at approximately 04:36 AM, an officer was dispatched to the area of State Route 2 westbound near Oak Point Road in reference to a driving complaint. It was reported a white in color limousine was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and weaving all over the roadway. Upon arrival to the area, the officer entered State Route 2 westbound via Oak Point Road. Just as he was merging onto State Route 2 the white limousine passed him. The officer followed the vehicle for a very short distance and observed the vehicle to cross over the white fog line on the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then continued towards the right, hitting the rumble strips. The vehicle crossed completely over the rumble strips and then began to correct itself into the proper lane of travel. The officer activated his overhead lights attempting to affect a traffic stop. The vehicle continued to travel westbound on State Route 2 for a considerable distance without slowing down. The officer activated his siren for a moment and the vehicle finally began to slow down, coming to a stop on the Crosse Road overpass. An investigation was conducted and the driver, Ronald Wallace, age 32 of Canton, was charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Driving Under Suspension, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Driving in Marked Lanes. The six passengers in the Limousine were transported to the police department to wait for someone to pick them up.

 

  • On Monday, March 17, 2014, at 12:50 AM, an officer was on patrol on North Leavitt Road and observed a vehicle being operated with equipment violations. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Brandon Arnett, age 22 of Lagrange, was charged with Possession of Marijuana, 5 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, License Plate Light Required and Display of License Plates.

 

  • On Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 12:36 AM, an officer was on a traffic stop with a female who was cited for Failure to Reinstate. The female called a male to pick her  and the vehicle up as she was not permitted to drive. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with this male to make sure he was a valid driver. The male lied to the officer and gave him a different person's social security number and name. After an investigation, the officer eventually identified the male as a suspended driver. Carl E. McCall Jr., age 34 of Lorain. He was cited for Providing False/Fictitious information, Open Container, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia and 12-Point Driving Suspension.

 

  • On Wednesday, March 19, 2014, a female came to the police department with a grenade and some ammunition she located in her home. The items belonged to her late husband. The female did not know what to do with them so she placed the box containing them by the front lobby door and went in to let the dispatcher know the items were there. Officers responded to the police department and blocked off vehicle and foot traffic from approaching the building. The female was shown pictures of various types of grenades and identified it as a WW II era pineapple type grenade. A member of the Lorain County Bomb Squad responded and determined the grenade was a training grenade and there was no explosive present. The female was advised of the proper procedure should she locate anything else in her residence she suspects is explosive.

 

  • On Friday, March 21, 2014, at 02:37 AM, an officer was dispatched to Milan Ave. near the area of Sprenger Park in reference to an occupied vehicle stuck on a guard rail. A Lorain County Sheriff's Deputy was out with the vehicle in question. Upon arrival the officer met with the Deputy who advised he came upon the vehicle as he was leaving a call down the street. The Deputy stated he was traveling eastbound on Milan Ave. and noticed the vehicle in question off of the roadway facing south on the sidewalk and grass. As the Deputy pulled up, the operator of the vehicle then drove eastbound through the grass and eventually drove over top of a guardrail causing the vehicle to be stuck. An investigation was conducted and Johnna Fischer, age 28 of Amherst, was charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Failure to Control and Driving in Marked Lanes.

 

  • On Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 12:54 AM, an officer was on patrol on Church St. near a parking lot of several businesses. The officer noticed a male and female stumbling around near the area of a dumpster. They both appeared to be intoxicated so the officer decided to stop and check on their welfare. An investigation was conducted and Arrianna Cumberledge, age 19 of Lorain, was charged with underage consumption.

 

  • On Saturday, March 22, 2013, an officer was dispatched to the area of North Leavitt Rd. and State Route 2 for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Keith James Woody, age 26 of Lorain, was charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170% and Weaving.
