  • On Sunday, November 10, 2013, at approximately 05:13 PM, officers were advised of an intoxicated driver by another officer working a special detail. An investigation followed and the driver was found to be intoxicated. Christine Whitt, age 45 of Amherst, was charged with Felony Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Driving Under Suspension, Weaving Course, and Driving in Marked Lanes.
  • On Monday, November 11, 2013 at approximately 02:39 AM, an officer was on routine patrol near businesses on Kresge Drive. Two males were observed acting suspiciously in the area. The two males were stopped and while identifying the males, dispatch advised two males fitting the description of the two males stopped had stolen a bottle of alcohol from a business. A bottle of vodka was located on one of the males. The male with the vodka identified himself initially using a false name. He was taken into custody, and later identified as Allen Cavin of Lorain, Ohio. Mr. Cavin, age 26, was charged with Theft and Obstructing Official Business. A juvenile female was also located in the area. It was learned she was with the two males. She originally lied about her age and stated she did not know the males. The juvenile, age 15 of Lorain, was charged with Curfew and Obstructing Official Business. She was turned over to her mother.
  • On Thursday, November 14, 2013 at approximately 7:30 AM, an officer was at a business and spoke with an employee. The employee stated he had been having trouble with a young male around the age of 16 or 17 after school lets out. He stated the male comes into the store with his friend and never buys anything but is rude and uses vulgar language. The employee asked the male to not come into the store anymore because of the way he acts. The employee stated the male does not listen and continues to come into the store and cause problems. The employee requested the police warn the male to stay away from the store. The juvenile was identified and advised by an officer he is no longer allowed to be on the business property for any reason or he will be charged with criminal trespassing. The same day, the male went back to the business and confronted the employee inside the business and attempted to provoke him into a fight. The juvenile was acting very aggressive and causing a scene inside the store in front of store customers, using foul and vulgar language. The confrontation lasted several minutes and the juvenile subsequently left the store without a physical altercation taking place. The juvenile, age 17 of Elyria, was later arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace.
