August 25 - August 31, 2013

  • On Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 12:06 AM, officers were dispatched to the area of Maple Ave and West Street in regards to a passed out female laying in a ditch. The female was located and transported to the hospital by an ambulance. A short time later, an employee at the hospital contacted the police department advising dispatch the female had left the hospital against their advice. She was located shortly after. Due to the female being a risk to herself and persisting in a disorderly manner after a reasonable warning, Megan Smith, age 28 of Huron, was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct Persisting.

 

  • On Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 12:50 AM, officers were dispatched to a residence on Meadowview Lane in reference to a bonfire that was emitting offensive smoke. An investigation was conducted and Andrew Parker, age 19 of Lorain, was cited for Underage Consumption. The bonfire was put out.

 

  • On Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 03:24 AM, an officer observed a driver commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Heaven Simons, age 19 of Elyria and Kolette McDonald, age 20 of Solon, were charged with Underage Consumption. McDonald was then turned over to another department on their warrant.

 

  • On Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 9:37 PM, an officer was on patrol in the area of Cooper Foster Park Road near Amchester. The officer observed a vehicle with a temporary tag and the tag appeared to be wrinkled, weathered and did not look new. The officer checked the registration on his computer and learned the tag expired on 4-30-13. The officer noticed the expiration date on the tag read AUG 30-13 and appeared to be altered. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Rodolfo Perez-Curet, age 34 of Lorain, was cited for Driving Under Suspension. Maribel Gomez, age 40 of Elyria, was cited for Wrongful Entrustment of a Motor Vehicle and Expired/ Unlawful Plates.

 

  • On Monday, August 26, 2013 at 1:15 AM, an officer was on patrol in the area of State Route 58 near the US Post Office when he observed a driver commit several traffic violations. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Nathaniel Johnson Jr., age 32 of Oberlin, was cited for Possession of Drugs and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was then turned over to another department on their warrant.

 

  • On Monday, August 26, 2013 at approximately 12:00 PM, an officer spoke to a male with a theft complaint. The male advised he accidentally left his wallet on the counter at a local business. When he returned a short time later it was gone and nobody had turned it in. An investigation was conducted and Aaron Bailey, age 44 of Lorain, was charged with Theft.

 

  • On Monday, August 26, 2013, at 06:23 PM, officers were dispatched to a business on Cooper Foster Park Road in reference to a shoplifting complaint. An investigation was conducted and 2 female juveniles, ages 10 and 12 of Lorain, were cited into Juvenile Court and released to a parent at the scene.

 

  • On Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 1:58 AM, an officer was on patrol approaching the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and State Route 58. While traveling east bound on Cleveland Ave., he observed a red car drive though a red light on SR 58 traveling northbound. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Rachell Cannon, age 27 of Oberlin, was cited for Red Light Violation, Possession of Drugs and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 

  • On Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 4:23 PM, an officer was on patrol in the area of State Route 58 near State Route 2 when he observed a vehicle being operated with an equipment violation. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Michael Miller, age 22 of Parma, was arrested and charged with Possession of Drugs (LSD), Possession of Drugs (Marijuana), Drug Paraphernalia and No Operators License.

 

  • On Friday, August 30, 2013 at 12:32 AM, an officer observed a vehicle being operated with an equipment violation. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Harley Swartz, age 20 of Norwalk, was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Drug Trafficking, Plate Light and Display of Plates.

 

  • On Friday, August 30, 2013 at 8:20 PM, officers were detailed to the parking lot of a business on North Leavitt Road reference a male who was slumped over the steering wheel in a vehicle. An investigation was conducted and Jerry Pennington Jr., age 32 of South Amherst, was charged with two counts of Drug Abuse Instruments.
