On Sunday, September 6, 2009, at approximately 3:55pm, an officer, while on patrol in the area of Nordson Drive and Gordon Avenue, observed a male and a young girl walking and continuously looking behind him with almost every step he took. The officer then noticed a vehicle following behind the male and young female at a slow rate of speed and start continuously blasting the horn. The parties were approached and an investigation was conducted. The male, Gregory Hardwick, age 38 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Violation of TPO. The driver of the vehicle, Evelyn Koepke, age 39 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Driving under Suspension and Open Container. | |

On Monday, September 7, 2009, at 4:36pm, an officer was dispatched to the area of Maple Street in reference to a discharging of fireworks complaint. Upon arrival to the area, the officer observed a bottle rocket explode in the air and several younger juveniles attempting to light more from a pipe that was in the ground. The officer approached the homeowner, John Hendricks, age 46 of Amherst, and conducted an investigation. Mr. Hendricks was issued a citation for Discharging Fireworks and the remainder of the fireworks were confiscated. | |

On Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at approximately 12:45am, officers were dispatched to Sunoco, South Leavitt Road, in reference to a suspicious vehicle called in by a nearby resident. Upon arrival, the suspect vehicle was located and occupied by a male, Abdul Giles, age 33 of East Cleveland, who was found to have drugs on his person. A large amount of US Currency was also located hidden underneath the hood of the vehicle. Mr. Giles, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. The money was seized and additional charges may follow pending the results from the Lorain County Crime Lab. | |

On Thursday, September 10, 2009, at 7:15pm, an officer was dispatched to Discount Drug Mart, North Leavit Road, in regards to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the security officer who advised a female was taken into custody after concealing a bottle of vodka. Kortney Spears, age 20 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Theft. | |

On Friday, September 11, 2009, at approximately 1:38am, an officer, while on patrol on Park Avenue, observed a vehicle travel the wrong way on a one way street, weave within its lane of travel, and cross over the center yellow lines. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Emily White, age 22 of Cleveland, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC Over .08%, One Way Street, and Marked Lanes. | |

On Friday, September 11, 2009, at 2:06pm, an officer was dispatched to Dollar General, Amherst Plaza, in reference to a shoplifting complaint. According to the store manager, a male took several t-shirts, placed them into a cart, and fled through the parking lot with the cart while the manager gave chase. The male suspect left the shirts and cart in the parking lot and was picked up by a brown van. The officer located the van and initiated a traffic stop at Speedway. An investigation was conducted and several stolen items were located inside the vehicle. Richard Radigan, age 52 of North Ridgeville, Todd Michael, age 41 of Olmsted Township, and James Davis, age 56 of North Ridgeville, were arrested and charged with Theft. | |

On Friday, September 11, 2009, at 9:22pm, an officer, while working a special detail at the Amherst Steele High School football game, was approached by the principal who had an intoxicated 14 year old male with him. The juvenile was very unsteady on his feet and had trouble walking. He also had a very strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from on or about his person, glassy red eyes and slurred speech. An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was charged with Underage Consumption. The father arrived to pick him up, at which time the juvenile took off running. Officers chased after him and added additional charges of Obstructing Official Business, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication. | |

On Saturday, September 12, 2009, at approximately 12:29am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Cornell Avenue in reference to a disturbing the peace complaint. Multiple people were found in the garage with alcohol and were in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. An investigation was conducted and the home owner, Nicholas Meyer, age 24, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, Sales to Underage Persons, and Disturbing the Peace. Gary Skinner, age 18 of Amherst, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, and Underage Consumption and Albert Anthony Kopronica, age 18 of Amherst, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. | |

On Saturday, September 12, 2009, at approximately 2:29am, officers were dispatched to the area of Westchester Drive and Sleepy Hollow in reference to juveniles sitting on the corner smoking "something." Upon arrival, five males and one female were identified and an investigation was conducted. Three of the parties, ages 16, 18 and 19, were cited for Underage Consumption. Two others, ages 15 and 17, were charged with Curfew and Prohibition Tobacco Products. | |

On Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 2:31am, an officer, while on patrol on Tenney Avenue near Spring Street, observed a vehicle fail to make a complete stop at the posted stop sign. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. The driver, Marco Gonzalez, age 20 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Underage Consumption, and Stop Sign. |
