On Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at approximately 12:06am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Milan Avenue in reference to a noise disturbance involving an intoxicated male and female who had been arguing and yelling for over an hour. Upon arrival, the officers attempted to make contact with the male inside the residence, Jerry Martin, age 39 of Lorain, who greeted officers with profanities and refused to come out. Attempts to locate the female party involved were unsuccessful. An investigation was conducted and Mr. Martin was arrested and charged with Obstructing Official Business, Disturbing the Peace, Criminal Trespass, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication. | |

On Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at approximately 2:00pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Woodhill Drive in reference to a found bicycle. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised she found a red BMX style bike at her back gate that abuts Maude Neiding Park. The bicycle was taken and placed into storage at the Amherst Police Department. A recovered bike form was completed. Anyone missing the bicycle should contact the police department with a further description. | |

On Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at 11:22am, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Brew and Wine Center, Cooper Foster Park Road, in reference to a complaint of a possibly intoxicated driver. The witness advised the vehicle left the business and was traveling in the wrong lane and drove off the right side of the roadway and cross the centerline several times. The officer located the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. An investigation was conducted and the driver James Mishak, age 57 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, and BAC over .170%. | |

On Saturday, October 4, 2008, at approximately 2:58pm, officers were dispatched to the area around Nordson Corporation, Nordson Drive, in reference to assisting the Lorain County Sheriff’s Department locating several juveniles who had trespassed on a property in their jurisdiction, and then left the area northbound into the City of Amherst. Four juveniles were located on the property of the Amherst Street Garage, Gordon Avenue. An investigation was conducted where officers learned that the juveniles had damaged property from our city. A 16 year old male from Amherst, and a 14 year old from Elyria, were charged with Criminal Trespassing and Criminal Mischief. The other two juveniles, both 14 from Elyria, were charged with Criminal Trespassing. | |

On Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 6:26pm, officers were advised by dispatch that the South Amherst Police were following what appeared to be an intoxicated driver into our city. An officer arrived on South Main Street where South Amherst PD had made a traffic stop. Through an investigation, it was determined by the officer that the operator of the vehicle, Brent Pete, age 35 of Amherst, was intoxicated. Mr. Pete was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated and BAC over 0.08%. |
