On Sunday, September 14, 2008, at approximately 2:19am, an officer, while on patrol on downtown, observed a vehicle facing the wrong direction on Park Avenue.  Upon observing the one-way street violation, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however, the driver, Scott Emping, age 21 of Sheffield Lake, began backing down the street and struck a vehicle which was parked in front of the Captain's Club bar.  At that time, a traffic stop was affected and an investigation conducted.  Mr. Empling was arrested and charged with Operating Vehicle Intoxicated, Improper Backing, One Way Street, and Failure to Control.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at approximately 3:00pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst High School, Washington Avenue, for a theft complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the victim who advised that her bicycle that she stores in a shed at the high school was stolen.  An investigation was conducted and Matt Wasilk, age 18 of Amherst, was later arrested and charged with Felony Theft, Breaking and Entering, and Criminal Damaging.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at approximately 4:40pm, an officer, while on patrol in the area of Cleveland Avenue and Woodhill Drive observed two males traveling eastbound on bicycles.  One was traveling properly in the roadway and the second male was traveling down the center of the road, holding traffic up behind him.  The officer made contact with the male and an investigation was conducted.  The male, age 17 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Riding Bicycles on the Right Side of the Roadway, and Reckless Operation of a Bicycle.

On Friday, September 19, 2008, at 12:32am, an officer, while on patrol on Tenney Avenue near Church Street, was flagged down by a male who stated he had too much to drink and locked his keys in his car.  He advised the officer he was not going to drive and that one of his friends was going to drive his car home.  An investigation was conducted and the male, Jeremy Warner, age 19 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption.

On Friday, September 19, 2008, at 1:55am, an officer, while on patrol in City Lot #1, noticed a female squatting next to a vehicle with her pants down to her ankles urinating in the parking lot.  The female, Jacqueline Sanderson, age 18 of Grafton, finished urinating pulled up her pants and approached the officer.  An investigation was conducted and Ms. Sanderson was issued a citation for Underage Consumption.

On Friday, September 19, 2008, at 12:30pm, officers, while at a residence on Cooper Foster Park Road investigating another complaint, located a 16 year old juvenile male who was found to be truant from school.  The officers attempted to detain the juvenile. However, he resisted and was placed under arrest and charged with Resisting Arrest and Truancy.
