On Sunday, October 4, 2009, at approximately 12:57am, an officer responded to a residence on North Lake Street in regards to a dog that had been barking for approximately two hours.  Upon arrival, the officer observed a dog barking in the back yard.  Attempts were made to contact the owner of the residence with negative results.  Due to prior written warnings, a citation was issued to the dog’s owner, James Mitchell.

On Sunday, October 4, 2009, at approximately 3:14am, officers responded to an injury accident at South Lake Street and Middle Ridge Road.  Upon arrival, the officers located a vehicle lying upside down in the front yard of a Middle Ridge Road residence and a male lying next to the vehicle.  Two other males were located sitting on the porch of the residence.  An investigation was conducted and the males were transported to the hospital for treatment.  The driver, age 17 of Elyria, was later charged with Operating a Vehicle Underage Consumption, Underage Consumption, Curfew, Marked Lanes, and Reckless Operation.  Michael Baynes, age 18 of Elyria, was cited for Underage Consumption and a third male involved, age 17 of Elyria, was cited for Underage Consumption and Curfew.

On Sunday, October 4, 2009, at 7:56pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in regards to a domestic violence complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim who signed charges for domestic violence against her husband John Bennett, age 39 of Amherst.  An affidavit and arrest warrant was completed and the suspect was later arrested and charged with Domestic Violence.

On Monday, October 5, 2009, at 4:41pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on West Martin Street in regards to a domestic violence complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised her 17 year old son assaulted his younger sister.  An investigation was conducted and the juvenile male was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence and transported to the Lorain County Detention Home.

On Friday, October 9, 2009, at approximately 2:30am, an officer, while on patrol on Park Avenue, observed a vehicle weaving from one side and then to the other side of it's eastbound lane of travel and cross over the double yellow line to the left of the vehicle several times.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Brandon Bashak, age 24 of Oberlin, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Weaving, and Marked Lanes.

On Saturday, October 10, 2009, at approximately midnight, an officer observed a male causing a disturbance near the Amherst Hospital entrance sign on Cleveland Avenue.  As the officer approached the male running away from the sign, he observed the sign was damaged and apprehended the male.  An investigation followed and Justin Hill, age 20 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Underage Consumption, Criminal Damage, and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication.  Mr. Hill also had an active warrant for his arrest through the Lorain County Sheriffs Office.

On Saturday, October 10, 2009, at approximately 1:35am, an officer, while on patrol on Westchester Drive, observed two subjects standing in the middle of the roadway.  The subjects failed to move to the side of the roadway until the officer slowed and stopped.  At that time the officer exited his patrol vehicle and made contact with the two males.  An investigation was conducted and Codye Mccord, age 18 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption.

On Saturday, October 10, 2009, at approximately 2:59am, an officer observed a vehicle sitting in the driveway of a Sleepy Hollow Drive residence with the head lights illuminated, the engine running, and what appeared to be a male slumped over in the driver's seat.  The officer stopped to check on the vehicle and the welfare of the occupant in the driver's seat.  As the officer approached the vehicle he observed a male in what appeared to me to be a state of unconsciousness.  An investigation was conducted and the driver, Thomas Conley, age 18 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Physical Control, Underage Consumption, Paraphernalia, and Drug Abuse Marijuana.

On Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 6:05pm, an officer was dispatched to the area of Church Street and Tenney Avenue in regards to a report of a vehicle parked with its motor running.  Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a male sleeping in the driver’s seat and an investigation was conducted. Mark Rogers, age 38 of Oberlin, was arrested and charged with Physical Control.
