On Sunday, October 28, 2007, at 1:32am, officers were dispatched to Habant Drive in reference to a complaint of a male with a gun.  Upon arrival, officers checked the Habant Dr. area on foot and located the male, later identified as Mario Camera, age 28 of Amherst, brandishing a Glock 9mm handgun in his right hand and an opened bottle of Budweiser beer in his left hand.  Commands were given to Mr. Camera to drop the weapon and officers were able to gain his compliance.  An investigation was conducted and Mr. Camera was arrested and charged with Using Weapons While Intoxicated, Open Container, and Aggravated Menacing.

On Sunday, October 28, 2007, at 9:24pm, an officer observed a vehicle eastbound on Cleveland Ave at a high rate of speed and weaving across the center line. The vehicle was stopped and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Eugene Deskins, age 37 of Elyria, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Compliance with Lawful Order of Police (Fleeing), BAC Over .170, Operation in Willful or Wanton Disregard of Safety,  and Reckless Operation/Weaving.

On Monday, October 29, 2007, at 1:26am, officers were dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a fight in progress between a male and a female.  Upon arrival, officers located a male who ran from them.  After a short foot pursuit and a lengthy investigation, the male, Dominique Milton, age 20 of Elyria, was arrested and charged with Underage Consumption, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Official Business, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Disturbing the Peace.  The female involved, Brittney Harris, age 19 of Elyria, was charged Driving Under Suspension, Underage Consumption, and Possession of Marijuana.  Both parties denied the physical altercation.

On Thursday, November 1, 2007, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a lottery scam complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who stated she received a letter and check from "Goldpoll Investments" advising her that she won money and to deposit the check into her account.  According to the letter, the check was to assist her in processing the rest of her winnings totaling $250,780.00.  The complainant did so and learned from the bank that the check was fraudulent and was being investigated by the Loss Prevention Department.  An investigation was conducted and it was determined that depositing these fraudulent checks into your bank account gives the company your bank account number.   The complainants account was closed and a report was made for file.

On Friday, November 2, 2007, at 6:20pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Park Avenue in reference to a domestic violence complaint.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant, who stated his aunt, Robin Fogle, age 53 of Amherst, had struck him while he attempted to exit the residence. The complainant also had visible injuries.  An investigation was conducted and Ms. Fogle was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence.

On Friday, November 2, 2007, at 8:00pm, officers were dispatched to Amherst Hospital, Cleveland Avenue, in reference to a disorderly female.  Hospital staff stated the female was causing a disturbance due to her intoxicated state. Upon arrival, the female, identified as Darlene Velez, age 44 of Lorain, calmed down. Officers responded to the hospital on three more occasions to calm the female, but with negative results.  Ms. Velez was cited for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, and Disorderly Conduct Persisting.
