On Sunday, October 12, 2008, at approximately 1:51am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed a male passenger in a vehicle making obscene gestures towards officers as the vehicle traveled past the police cruiser. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle and an investigation followed. The male, Crover Adwin Simpson III, age 29 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Littering. | |

On Sunday, October 12, 2008, at 3:06am, an officer, while on patrol on State Route 58, observed a vehicle almost strike another vehicle after failing to yield the right of way. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Kevin Brown, age 40 of Cleveland, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC Over .170%, Driving under Suspension, and Failure to Yield. | |

On Monday, October 13, 2008, at 3:02pm, officers were dispatched to Cheap Tobacco, Cooper Foster Park Road, in reference to a male paying for merchandise with fake money. Upon arrival, the officers met with the clerk and and an investigation was conducted. The male, Brett Hanchin, age 19 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Forgery, Criminal Simulation, Theft, and Possession of Criminal Tools. | |

On Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at approximately 8:30pm, an officer was dispatched to Nate's Marathon, North Leavitt Road, for a gas drive off. Upon arrival, the officer met with the store clerk who advised a male and female pumped gas and left without paying. The clerk also stated he believes there are the same parties that have stole from them several times in the past several weeks. An investigation was conducted Eric Nimon, age 38 of Lorain, and Susanne Nickoloff, age 33 of Lorain, were later arrested and charged with several counts each of Petty Theft. | |

On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at 1:07am, an officer, while on patrol on South Leavitt Road near Middle Ridge Road, observed a vehicle weaving within it's lane of travel land cross over the white edge line. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Steven Handley, age 34 of Wellington, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Open Container, Weaving, and Marked Lanes. | |

On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at approximately 6:22pm, an officer was dispatched to the Target Store, Oak Point Road, in reference to a complaint of a shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, the officer met with the loss prevention officer who advised he had apprehended a male that had attempted to conceal merchandise in his pants and exit the store without paying for those items. An investigation was conducted and Brett Scott, age 42 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Petty Theft. | |

On Friday, October 17, 2008, at 2:18am, an officer was informed by an off duty officer that the manager at Church Street Bar and Grille requested officers to help clear the bar out. Upon arrival, the manager advised he was having a problem with a couple of the bar patrons and them paying their tab. An investigation was conducted and it was learned one of the females involved, Jacqueline Meyers, age 19 of Vermilion, was lying about her identity. Ms. Myers was issued a citation for Underage Consumption, and Obstructing Official Business. | |

On Friday, October 17, 2008, at approximately 7:58pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Jackson Street in reference to a found bicycle. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised she located the bicycle in the Nordson parking lot for the two days up against the bushes. The bike is a men’s mountain bike. The bicycle was taken and placed into storage at the Amherst Police Department. A recovered bike form was completed. Anyone missing the bicycle should contact the police department with a further description. | |

On Friday, October 17, 2008, at 8:54pm, an officer, while on foot patrol at the Amherst Steele High School football game, began speaking with a 12 year old female who had an odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from on or about her person. An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was cited for Underage Consumption and Possession of Tobacco. | |

On Saturday, October 18, 2008, at approximately 1:10am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed a vehicle back into a guard rail located in the parking lot of First Merit bank, Cleveland Avenue. The officer stopped and made contact with the driver Rebecca Bailey, age 31 of Amherst, and an investigation was conducted. Ms. Bailey was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, and Private Property Reckless Operation. | |

On Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 1:38am, an officer, while on patrol on Cleveland Avenue near Church Street, observed a vehicle operating without a working rear license plate light. Due to the vehicle defect, a traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Miranda D’Ambrosio, age 18 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle after Underage Consumption, Driving under Suspension, and Underage Consumption. The owner and passenger of the vehicle Elyse Jordan, age 18 of Oberlin, was issued a citation for Wrongful Entrustment and Plate Light. | |

On Saturday, October 18, 2008, at approximately 4:00am, officers were dispatched to the Speedway Gas Station, North Leavitt Road, in reference to an assault complaint. According to the caller, there was a female in a vehicle in front of the building that had been assaulted by a male who was still in the same vehicle. Upon arrival, an investigation was conducted and the male, Lenny Santiago, age 24 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence (M1), Domestic Violence (M4), Aggravated Menacing, Disorderly Conduct, and Disorderly Conduct Persisting. |
