On Sunday, November 2, 2008, at approximately 12:51am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of South Leavitt Road and Middle Ridge Road, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side within its southbound lane of travel and cross over the double yellow lines to the left side of the vehicle several times.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Yolanda Shauck, age 48 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Marked Lanes, and Weaving.

On Sunday, November 2, 2008, at approximately 1:44am, officers responded to State Route 2 and the Meadow Larks Motorcycle Club overpass, in regards to a vehicle that had been traveling the wrong way on State Route 2 and had struck two other vehicles.   Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle facing eastbound on State Route 2 in the westbound lanes of travel and straddling both lanes of the roadway.  It was also observed that the vehicle had struck two other vehicles before coming to rest in the position observed.  An investigation was conducted and the driver, Joseph Wagner, age 52 of North Olmsted, of the vehicle going the wrong way was transported to the LCHP west campus for treatment.  It was later determined Mr. Wagner was intoxicated and he was turned himself into the Amherst Police Department several days later.  Mr. Wagner was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Failure to Control, Operation in Willful or Wanton Disregard of Safety, and Reckless Operation.

On Sunday, November 2, 2008, at approximately 2:14am, officers were dispatched to Church Street and Park Avenue in reference to a possible fight in progress.  Upon arrival, officers located several males running from the altercation behind Ziggy's Bar.  Several intoxicated males were located and an investigation was conducted.  Robert Gonzalez, age 24 of Lorain, Anibal Figueroa, age 21 of Lorain, and Michael Redilla, age 25 of Amherst, were issued citations for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication.  A 16 year old juvenile male was cited for Underage Consumption, Possession Tobacco Products, and Curfew.

On Sunday, November 2, 2008, at 3:28pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Church Street in regards to a domestic violence complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim who advised she and her 15 year old son were arguing about family chores and he began yelling and swearing at her and then struck her in the leg with a vase.  An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was arrested for Domestic Violence and taken to the Turning Point.

On Thursday, November 6, 2008, at approximately 11:38pm, an officer, while on patrol in the area of South Leavitt Road and Woodside Drive, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side within its lane of travel and cross over the double lines to the left side of the vehicle approximately three times.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Jeffrey Szantay, age 38 of Amherst, was arrested and charged Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC .08%, Weaving, Marked Lanes, Possession of Marijuana, and Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, November 8, 2008, at approximately 12:14am, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a disorderly 16 year-old female who was intoxicated.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the juvenile’s boyfriend who advised that the female was intoxicated and did not want to go home in fear of what her father would do to her.  He stated he did not know where to take her because she was in a very angry state and began being abusive to him.  An investigation was conducted and the juvenile female was cited for Underage Consumption and Curfew.

On Saturday, November 8, 2008, at approximately 2:22am, an officer, while on patrol on North Main Street and Shadylawn Drive, observed a vehicle weaving from one side of the roadway to the other as it traveled northbound on North Main Street.  The vehicle also ran off of the roadway to the right side of the vehicle approximately two times and nearly struck a mail box each time.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver Corina Strack, 28 of Vermilion, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Open Container, Weaving, and Marked Lanes.
