On Sunday, November 26, 2006, at approximately 12:39am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Charles Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke to both parties involved and learned the husband and wife got into a verbal argument over a matter that happened several years ago. A report was made for file. | |

On Sunday, November 26, 2006, at approximately 7:08am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Jackson Street in reference to a 911 open line. The caller stated she had locked herself in her bedroom due to an argument she was having with her husband. She refused to provide further information then terminated the call. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male and female and an investigation was conducted. Both parties were highly intoxicated and stated there was no physical contact between them. Neither wished to file a complaint in any manner. A report was made for file. | |

On Sunday, November 26, 2006, at approximately 5:00pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Public Library, Spring Street, in reference to a stolen bicycle complaint. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the complainant and his son. They advised that the bike was stolen from the bike rack while they were inside the library. The bike was described as a black on silver or chrome Orange County Chopper. A report was made for file. | |

On Monday, November 27, 2006, at approximately 3:50am, officers were dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a possible assault occurring in a room. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the occupants of the room. An investigation was conducted and it was learned no assault had occurred. While in the room, officers located marijuana and narcotic prescriptions not in their original bottles. The suspected drugs were seized and charges will be filed pending the BCI drug identification results. | |

On Monday, November 27, 2006, at 12:22pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department lobby in reference to a theft complaint. The complainant advised that money was wired from his bank account by way of his credit card account number to a Western Union office in Missouri. This matter was forwarded to the Lorain County Sheriff's Office for follow up. | |

On Monday, November 27, 2006, at 6:04pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department lobby in reference to a criminal damage to vehicle complaint. The complainant stated while driving on Cleveland Avenue, he observed a male juvenile throw a golf ball at the windshield of his vehicle causing a crack. He attempted to locate the responsible party, but the male was gone upon returning to the area. No description of the juvenile could be provided. A report was made for insurance purposes. | |

On Monday, November 27, 2006, at 6:35pm, officers were dispatched to Ben Franklin’s, Park Avenue, in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, it was learned that several juveniles were in the store looking around and once the juveniles left, an employee noticed merchandise missing. Officers searched the area for the possible suspects. A portion of the missing merchandise was located and returned to the store. A report was made for file. | |

On Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at 6:52am, an officer was dispatched to Clovervale Foods, Cooper Foster Park Road in reference to a menacing complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the female complainant who stated she gave her ex-boyfriend a ride to work and he choked her and threatened her while in the car. The officer also spoke to the male involved who stated at no time did he choke, strike, or cause any physical harm to the female. An investigation was completed and due to conflicting stories, the lack of any physical evidence or eyewitnesses, and inconsistencies with the female’s statements, no charges were filed. On Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at 11:52am, an officer was dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a theft of money by employee complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the manager who advised that an employee checked a subject into a room but did not enter the transaction into the motel computer, keeping the money paid for the room. Arrest charges were requested and a warrant was issued for the employee. | |

On Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at 9:06pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Hamilton Street in reference to a menacing complaint. Upon arrival, the complainant advised she was involved in an argument about child custody matters with the father of her children and he threatened her safety. An investigation was conducted and a report was made for file. | |

On Thursday, November 30, 2006, at approximately 2:14am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Hazel Street in reference to a male threatening another with a crow bar. The complainant, who appeared to be intoxicated, told officers that when he returned home to his mother's house, he was threatened by his mother's boyfriend. An investigation was conducted and a report was made for file. | |

On Thursday, November 30, 2006, at 7:50am, an officer was dispatched to Nord School, Lincoln Street, in reference to two female students that were followed by a white van. The females stated the incident occurred in the area of Cleveland Avenue and Forest Avenue while they were walking to school. The van was occupied by two Hispanic males with the passenger having black facial hair. The students walked into Dairy Mart and later to the Amherst Hospital parking lot and were able to elude the van. The principal notified all students and parents via a phone message to be aware of the suspicious vehicle and to remain vigilant. | |

On Friday, December 1, 2006, at approximately 11:56pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Five Points in reference to a possible drunk driver. The vehicle in question, which was being followed by witnesses, nearly struck curbs, pedestrians, and was driving through lawns. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Brandon Vandersommen, age 30 of Lorain, had an odor of intoxicating beverage coming from his person, slurred speech and glassy eyes. An investigation was conducted and Mr. Vandersommen was arrested and formally charged with Operating Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Driving Under Suspension, Weaving and Marked Lanes. | |

On Saturday, December 2, 2006, at approximately 2:37am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Lincoln Street in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the male and female involved and learned they were having an argument over the female exposing herself to men in a bar. There was no evidence of physical violence and neither of the parties wished to pursue the matter. A report was made for file. |
