On Sunday, November 1, 2009, at approximately 1:30am, an officer, while on patrol on North Ridge Road near Oberlin Avenue, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side in its lane of travel and cross over the double yellow lines to the left side of the vehicle several times. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, John Laing, age 56 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Weaving, and Marked Lanes. | |

On Friday, November 6, 2009, at 12:41am, an officer, while on patrol at the five point's intersection downtown, observed a younger male stumbling across the street and appeared to be impaired. The officer made contact with the male and check on his welfare. While speaking to the male, a very strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from on or about his person and his eye's were also glassy in appearance and his speech was slurred when speaking. The male, age 17 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, and Underage Consumption. He was released to his father. | |

On Friday November 6, 2009, at 1:26am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, stopped and spoke with an intoxicated male in City Parking lot #1 to check his welfare. Due to the male’s intoxicated state, the officer advised him not to drive and to obtain a safe ride home. Approximately an hour later, the officer observed the male driving on Tenney Avenue near Church Street. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The male, Stephen McRoberts, age 21 of Vermilion, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Bac over .08%, Driving under Suspension, Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order, Weaving, and Plate Light. | |

On Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 1:10am, an officer, while on patrol on South Main Street near the city limits, observed a vehicle weaving within it's lane of travel from east to west, and crossed over the white edge line on two occasions. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. As the operator of the vehicle, later identified as the vehicle owner Celia Bellman, age 21 of Avon Lake, pulled over to the right side of the roadway, she struck a mailbox with the passenger's side mirror, breaking the mirror off, and then scratched the entire passenger's side of the vehicle. Ms. Bellman was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Weaving, and Driving in Marked Lanes. |
