On Sunday, May 6, 2007, at approximately 2:30am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of North Main Street and Cooper Foster, observed a vehicle weaving within its lane of travel and cross over the solid white line to the right of the vehicle several times.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver Laurie Randolph, age 44 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Marked Lanes, and Weaving.

On Monday, May 7, 2007, at 22:03pm, officers were dispatch to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a menacing complaint.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated a male, later identified as Mark Jackson, age 29 of Amherst, made statements which the he perceived as threatening.  An investigation was conducted and Mr. Jackson was later arrested and charged with Menacing.

On Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at approximately 6:55pm, an officer was dispatched to Speedway Gas Station, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a theft complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised that she had her purse stolen from the inside of her car while she went inside the gas station.  An investigation is pending at this time.

On Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at approximately 11:30am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of Middle Ridge Road and Plaza Drive, past a male walking on the side of the road who stuck up his middle finger and yelled obscenities toward the officer.  The officer stopped and conducted an investigation.  The male, Daniel Dindino, age 44 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Traffic.

On Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at approximately 6:55pm, officers were dispatched to Pat Catans, Cooper Foster Park Road, in reference to a shoplifting complaint.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to the manager who advised the female fled the store after being confronted.  An investigation was conducted and the female, Anna Brown, age 47 of Lorain, was located and arrested for Theft.

On Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 10:30am, an officer was dispatched to Nord School in reference to an unruly juvenile. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the principal who stated they have been having behavioral problems with a female student who has been disregarding teacher’s instructions as well as being disrespectful.  An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was issued a citation for Unruly Juvenile and released to her mother.

On Friday, May 5, 2007, at 11:01am, an officer was dispatched to the Beaver Creek Metro Park, North Lake Street, in reference to suspicious items that were located by an Amherst Sewer Department employee.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who brought an opened Folgers coffee can containing potting soil and four suspicious plants which appeared to be consistent with marijuana plants.  The plants were removed from the scene and destroyed.  There are no known suspects.

On Friday, May 11, 2007, at approximately 1:15pm, an officer was dispatched to Church Street Bar in reference to a juvenile who was sitting at the bar.  Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the juvenile, and upon identification, determined he was reported as a missing juvenile through the Lorain Police Department.  The juvenile was issued a citation for Daytime Curfew and Unruly Juvenile and turned over to his mother.

On Friday, May 11, 2007, at approximately 5:09pm, officers were dispatched to Powers Elementary School in reference to a fight in progress.  Upon arrival, the officers met with the caller who stated he observed several females pounding on each other.  The involved parties were located and an investigation was conducted.  One juvenile was issued a citation for Assault and Disorderly Conduct.  The other two juveniles were issued citations for Disorderly Conduct.  All three were released to their parents.

On Friday, May 11, 2007, at approximately 7:55pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Aldi's, Kresge Drive, in reference to a male who pulled a knife on a motorist.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainants who stated while they were traveling on Kresge Drive, they passed a male walking at the side of the road and he spit at their car. When the complainant turned around to question the male, he pulled a knife out.  An investigation was conducted and the male, Gary Taylor, age 44 of Lorain, was located ducking behind cars in the area of Bob Evans and Motel 6.   Mr. Taylor was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Menacing and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

On Saturday, May 12, 2007, at approximately 12:23am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of South Leavitt Road and Park Avenue, observed a vehicle weaving within its lane of travel.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Marcus Witherspoon, age 24 of Elyria, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, and Weaving.

On Saturday, May 12, 2007, at approximately 2:42am, an officer, while assisting an Ohio State Patrol unit with a traffic stop at Speedway, North Leavitt Road, spoke to a male who had a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from his person and red, glassy eyes.  An investigation was conducted and the male, Andrew Murray, age 18 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption.

On Saturday, May 12, 2007, at 3:29am, officers were dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road in reference to a noise disturbance.  Upon arrival, officers heard several males talking, laughing, and yelling very loudly.  Contact was made with the occupants of the room and an investigation was conducted.  Manoah Brown, age 27 of Lorain, and Joaquin Chapman, age 43 of Lorain, were issued citations for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, May 12, 2007, at 11:46pm, an officer, while on patrol in the parking lot of Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, checked on an occupied suspicious vehicle.  An investigation was conducted and the occupants were found to be in possession of alcohol and drugs.   Freddie Sanchez, age 20 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Possession Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, and Underage Consumption.  Keith Moore, age 21 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Possession Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, and Open Container.
