On Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 8:33am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Lincoln Street in reference to a breaking and entering complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the homeowner who advised an unknown person entered the residence and stole several DVD movies. The homeowner believes entry was made through an unlocked bedroom window. An investigation was conducted by the Detective Bureau and it was determined the suspect involved was Dennis Pettry, age 25 of Amherst. Mr. Pettry was arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary, Theft 9 counts, and Disrupting Public Services. | |

On Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 1:47am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Lincoln Street in reference to a burglary complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who stated a male wearing a red shirt and sweat pants broke into her car and then entered her home through a first floor bathroom window. The male claimed he had a gun, stole her bank card, and demanded her pin number. The male then left the house through a side door and took $40 cash, a purse, and a set of car keys. The detective bureau was contacted to process the scene and continue the investigation. During the investigation, it was determined Dennis Pettry, age 25 of Amherst, was the suspect involved. Mr. Pettry was arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary, Theft 9 counts, and Disrupting Public Services. | |

On Sunday, May 4, 2008, at approximately 1:20am, an officer was dispatched to Autumn Drive in reference to a barking/howling dog complaint. Upon arrival, the officer located a dog barking/howling non-stop at a residence on Autumn Drive. An investigation was conducted and the homeowner, Jeffrey Szantay, age 37 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Barking/Howling Dog. | |

On Sunday, May 4, 2008, at approximately 2:15am, an officer, while on patrol, observed a male in the rear parking lot of Olde Town Pizza, Cleveland Street. The male was facing the building and standing in a urinating position. As the officer pulled into the parking lot, the male entered a vehicle along with four other females who had just run from behind a house. Due to the suspicious nature of the male and the females, the officer approached the vehicle to investigate. The five occupants were identified as being 17 years of age or younger and were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. An investigation was conducted and resulted in the finding of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The juvenile male was issued a citation for Underage Consumption, Curfew, and Possession of Tobacco Products. The juvenile male’s father was issued a citation for Parental Responsibility. Three juvenile females were issued citations for Underage Consumption, Curfew and Possession of Marijuana. Another juvenile female was issued a citation for Underage Consumption and Curfew. | |

On Sunday, May 4, 2008, at approximately 10:24am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Mill Avenue in reference to a found bicycle. The officer spoke to the homeowner who stated he located a bicycle in the rear of his yard near the Norfolk Southern Railroad property. The bicycle is a girl’s mountain bike. A report was completed and the bicycle was removed from his property taken to the police department. Anyone missing the bicycle should contact the police department with a further description. | |

On Monday, May 5, 2008, at 7:58pm, officers were dispatched to Target, North Lake Street, in reference to a shoplifting complaint with a female in custody. Upon arrival, the officers met with Loss Prevention who advised the female, Candice Cutlip, age 23 of Lorain, was observed stuffing several Nintendo DS, Playstation, and Xbox 360 games in her purse and clothing. An investigation was conducted and Ms. Cutlip was arrested and charged with Theft. | |

On Monday, May 5, 2008, at 8:14pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on East Martin Avenue in reference to theft and unruly child complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the grandfather who advised his grandson stole money from his dresser in his bedroom and was being unruly. An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was cited into Lorain Juvenile Court for Unruly Juvenile and Theft. | |

On Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at approximately 12:12am, an officer was dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in reference to an assault complaint. Upon arrival, an investigation revealed an intoxicated male, Jason Gere, age 30 of Sheffield Lake, got into an argument with his girlfriend, assaulted her, and broke her cell phone. Mr. Gere was arrested and charged with Assault and Criminal Damaging. | |

On Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at 2:15am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Shadylawn Drive in reference a criminal mischief complaint. According to the caller, the house at this address was being toilet papered. Upon arrival, the officer located several people running eastbound through the back yards north of the residence. Three females were located and an investigation was conducted. Chelsea Wilson, age 18 of Amherst, Lindsey Gillespie, age 18 of Lorain, and Angelica Gonzalez, age 18 of Lorain, were issued citations for Underage Consumption. | |

On Friday, May 9, 2008, at approximately 12:00am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed a male yelling and cursing at him. The officer approached the male and an investigation was conducted. The male, Joshua Murdy, age 21 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Friday, May 9, 2008, at 12:56am, an officer, while on patrol on Tenney Avenue, noticed a vehicle turn without using the vehicle’s turn signal. Due to the violation, the officer initiated a traffic stop and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Tracy Eager, age 39 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal and Signals before Changing Course. | |

On Friday, May 9, 2008, at approximately 4:34pm, an officer was dispatched to the area of Franklin Avenue and Church Street regarding a dog at large. Upon arrival, the officer located the dog and an investigation was conducted. The Dog Warden was contacted and took control of the dog. The owner, Alexandrea Eggers, age 22 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Dog at Large. | |

On Friday, May 9, 2008, at approximately 7:10pm, an officer was dispatched to the area of Brandt Avenue and Lincoln Street in reference to a complaint of door to door solicitors. Upon arrival, the officer located two males, later identified as Ronald Larry, age 28 of Warrensville Heights, and Jay Dewees, age 25 of Bedford, soliciting without a permit. Both were issued citations for Soliciting. | |

On Friday, May 9, 2008, at approximately 11:41pm, an officer, while on patrol near Maude Neiding Park, observed an occupied vehicle in the south parking lot on Park Avenue with smoke coming out of the windows. Due to the suspicious nature of the occupied vehicle being at the park after dark, the officer approached the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Joel Hettel, age 18 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. The passenger, a 16 year old juvenile female, was issued a citation for Prohibition to Tobacco Products. | |

On Saturday, May 10, 2008, at approximately 1:32am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed a vehicle exiting City Lot # 3 without coming to a complete stop before entering the roadway from the parking lot. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Marilee Moos, age 48 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Stopping before Entering Roadway from Place other than Roadway, and Signal before Changing Course. | |

On Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 2:35am, officers, while on patrol at Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, observed a vehicle negotiate a turn into the entrance drive to Motel 6 from North Leavitt Rd without utilizing the vehicle's turn signal. Due to the violation, a traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Leander Wren, age 20 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Underage Consumption, and Signals before Changing Course. The passenger, Derrell Horton, age 20 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption. |
