On Sunday, March 25, 2007, at approximately 1:57am, an officer, while on patrol near Park Avenue and Church Street, observed a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on the one way street.  The officer initiated a traffic stop and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Drew Goodwin, age 18 of Amherst, exhibited signs of being intoxicated and was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%,  and One Way Street Violation.

On Sunday, March 25, 2007, at approximately 2:37am hours, officers were dispatched to Elyria Avenue and Middle Ridge Road in reference to a vehicle that struck a telephone pole.  Upon arrival, the officers conducted an investigation and the driver, Daren Abraham, age 26 of Amherst, was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.  Mr. Abraham was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Menacing, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Reckless Operation, and Safety Belt.

On Sunday, March 25, 2007, at 1:10pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Jackson Street in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complainant who advised a male stole her son’s cell phone. An investigation was conducted and the complainant requested charges be filed against the suspect.  A warrant was issued for Scott Heisler, age 37 of Amherst, and Mr. Heisler was later located and arrested for Theft and Obstructing Official Business.

On Tuesday, March 27, 2007, an officer observed garbage scattered in several yards near the area of West Martin Street and North Main Street.  It was determined that it came from trash dumped in front of a residence on North Main Street and that this is an ongoing problem in the neighborhood.  An investigation was conducted and the homeowner, Laura Moreno, age 50 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Littering.

On Thursday, March 29, 2007, at 5:59pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Mill Street in reference to an unruly juvenile.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to the juvenile's family who advised of the ongoing problems with the juvenile and his poor attitude. An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was issued a citation for Unruly Juvenile.

On Thursday, March 29, 2007, at approximately 5:25pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a theft complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who reported that her VCR/DVD combo player was stolen off of her television. An investigation was conducted and Dennis Pettry Jr., age 24 of Vermilion, was arrested and charged with two counts of Theft and two counts of Forgery.

On Thursday, March 29, 2007, at approximately 11:35pm, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed a vehicle operating in a reckless manner and strike a curb.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Christopher Vazquez, age 20 of Lorain, exhibited signs of being intoxicated.  Mr. Vazquez was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .02%, Underage Consumption, Weaving, and Turn Signal.

On Friday, March 30, 2007, at approximately 2:00am, an officer was dispatched to the area of East Martin Avenue and North Main Street in reference to a single car accident.  Upon arrival, the officer conducted an investigation and the driver, Carey Wash, age 46 of Amherst, had a very strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from her person and slurred speech.  Ms. Wash was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, and Reckless Operation.

On Friday, March 30, 2007, at 10:50am, officers were dispatched to a residence on West Martin in reference to a juvenile attempting to steal a bike from the garage.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised he confronted a juvenile attempting to take a bike out of his garage.  The juvenile ran from the area and was later located.  An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was arrested and charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Daytime Curfew, and Drug Paraphernalia.

On Friday, March 30, 2007, at approximately 9:28pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on East Martin Avenue in reference to an unruly juvenile.  Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant who stated his grandson was being unruly again.  An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was issued a citation for Unruly Juvenile and Criminal Damage.
