On Sunday, March 18, 2007, at approximately 2:06am, on officer, while on patrol in the downtown area, observed a male, later known as Mr. James Potts, age 51 of Wellington, urinating in between two vehicles in the Amherst City Lot # 3. Mr. Potts then entered his vehicle in an attempt to drive out of the city lot. The officer made contact with Mr. Potts and immediately observed a very strong odor of intoxicating beverage coming from his person. His speech was also heavily slurred and he was unable to complete a full sentence. Mr. Potts was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct. | |

On Sunday, March 18, 2007, at approximately 2:15am, an officer, while on patrol in his police cruiser, was almost hit by a vehicle that was attempting to pass a stopped vehicle sitting in front of RC’s Brewhouse, Church Street. The vehicle then turned onto Park Avenue traveling in the wrong direction on the one way street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and an investigation was conducted. The driver, David Ramos, age 22 of Lorain, had a very strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from his person and his speech was slurred. Mr. Ramos was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Reckless Operation and One Way Street. | |

On Sunday, March 18, 2007, at approximately 4:28am, officers were dispatched to Denny's, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a disturbance inside the restaurant. Upon arrival, an investigation was conducted and an underage male was found to be involved and heavily intoxicated. The male, Kyle Ramirez, age 20 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption. | |

On Monday, March 19, 2007, at approximately 12:49am, an officer, while on patrol, observed a suspicious occupied vehicle in the Speedway parking lot, North Leavitt Road. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer observed a male and female gyrating up and down in the back seat. An investigation was conducted and a male, age 19 of Lorain, and a female, age 19 of Amherst, were both issued citations for Underage Consumption, Open Container and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Monday, March 19, 2007, at 10:43am, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in regards to a telephone harassment complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised she has been receiving unwanted, harassing phone calls from a female, possibly her soon to be ex husband’s girlfriend. An investigation was conducted and the complainant requested a report be made for file in the event something happens in the future. | |

On Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at approximately 2:30pm, an officer was dispatched to Subway, Cooper Foster Park Road, for a theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim who stated she had used the restroom prior to eating and took her purse into the restroom with her. She had accidentally left her purse on the floor in the restroom and did not realize it until she was done eating. When she returned to the restroom the purse was gone. A report was made for file and the case was turned over to the detective bureau for investigation. | |

On Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at 7:13pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Canterbury Circle in reference to a 911 hang up call. Upon callback, an argument could be heard and a female was crying. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to the male and female involved who stated they were involved in an argument over their pending divorce and financial matters. An investigation was conducted and neither party wished to file a complaint. A report was made for file and the male willingly left for the night. | |

On Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at approximately 1:15am, an officer, while on patrol, observed a male lying on the ground in front of Amherst Family Dental, Kresge Drive. An investigation was conducted and the male, Gilberto Peguero, age 46 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Open Container and Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication. | |

On Thursday, March 22, 2007, at approximately 8:32am, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a domestic dispute complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with a female who advised she got into a domestic argument at their residence. An investigation was conducted and contact was made with the husband. It was determined that nothing physical took place and a report was made for file. | |

On Thursday, March 22, 2007, at approximately 1:15pm, on officer was dispatched to a residence on Red Tailed Lane in reference to a telephone harassment complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complaint who stated she received several harassing, obscene phone call from an unknown male. An investigation was conducted and the complainant was advised on the call trace features on her phone. A report was made for file. | |

On Thursday, March 22, 2007, at approximately 2:40pm, officers were dispatched to Premier Toyota, Cooper Foster Park Road, in reference to a verbal disturbance in the parking lot between a sales associate and an irate customer. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to both parties involved and it was learned that the customer felt as if he was being mislead by the sales associate. An investigation was conducted it was determined no threats were made. A report was made for file. | |

On Thursday, March 22, 2007, at 3:56pm, an officer was dispatched to Nord School, Lincoln Street, in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a teacher of the school who stated a book was turned over to her by a student and she believed it may be stolen from the Amherst Library. An investigation was conducted with the student involved and the Amherst Library. The library requested the property be returned and the student be prohibited from being at the library again. A report was made for file. | |

On Friday, March 23, 2007, at approximately 5:25pm, an officer, while on patrol on Spring Street near Mill Street, observed several juveniles walking near the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks. The officer approached them and an investigation was conducted. It was learned that two of the juveniles were issued written warnings in the past for being on the tracks. Both juveniles were issued citations for Railroad Trespass. | |

On Friday, March 23, 2007, at approximately 11:20pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Coopers Run in reference to a verbal dispute between husband and wife. Upon arrival, officers met with the involved parties who stated they were involved in a verbal argument over marital problems. Both advised nothing physical occurred. An investigation was conducted and, at the request of the wife, the husband was asked to leave for the evening. A report was made for file. | |

On Saturday, March 24, 2007, at 2:12am, an officer, while on patrol on State Route 2, noticed a vehicle weaving within its lane of travel and crossing over the white edge line. A traffic stop was initiated by the officer and the driver, Rex Brunner, age 54 of Amherst, exhibited signs of being intoxicated. An investigation was conducted and Mr. Brunner was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08, Weaving and Marked Lanes. | |

On Saturday, March 24, 2007, at approximately 1:00pm, an officer, while on patrol, was advised by an unknown passing motorist of a male erratically operating a vehicle and drinking alcoholic beverages. The officer located the vehicle in question and a traffic stop was initiated. An investigation was conducted and the driver, Glen Barringer, age 75 of North Olmsted, was issued a citation for Safety Belt, Turning at Intersections and Open Container. The passenger, Jeanne Barringer, age 65 of North Olmsted, was issued a citation for Safety Belt. | |

On Saturday, March 24, 2007, at 8:40pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a possible harassment complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complainant who stated he was followed and harassed by a male that he has had problems with in the past. An investigation was conducted and both parties were advised to avoid contact with each other. A report was made for file. |
