On Sunday, March 15, 2009, at approximately 3:45am, officers responded to the area of West Street and Franklin Avenue, in regards to two males walking northbound on West Street looking into vehicles. Dispatch advised that the two males had just taken off running and the complainant lost sight of them. The males were said to be wearing long hooded coats. Upon arrival in the area, an officer observed a male wearing a cream colored hooded sweatshirt, running in the front yard of a residence on the corner of Maple Street and East Street. An investigation was conducted and the male, Ernie Ortiz, age 24 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Obstructing Official Business, Criminal Trespass, Petty Theft (2cts), Vehicle Trespass (2cts), and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. Another officer observed two females in a green in color Honda, on Hazel Street just north of Cross Avenue. An investigation was conducted, and the two females, Luz Ortiz, age 32 of Cleveland, and Ana Suarez, age 42 of Lorain, were arrested. Ms. Ortiz was charged with Driving under Suspension, Obstructing Official Business, Criminal Trespass, Petty Theft (Complicity), Criminal Tools, and Receiving Stolen Property. Ms. Suarez was charged with Obstructing Official Business, Criminal Trespass, and Petty Theft (Complicity). Several minutes later, the other male was located on Middle Ridge Road just east of State Route 58. An investigation was conducted, and the male Anibol Colon, age 34 of Lorain, was arrested and charged Obstructing Official Business, Criminal Trespass, Petty Theft (2cts), Vehicle Trespass (2cts), Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. A number of vehicles were entered throughout the area in which the suspects were apprehended and several items were recovered them. The four were transported to the Lorain County Jail to await their appearance in court. | |

On Sunday, March 15, 2009, at approximately 11:51pm, officers responded to Middle Ridge Road, near Pinecrest Apartments, in regards to a vehicle that had driven onto the guardrail and was attempting to leave. Upon arrival, the officer observed a vehicle facing westbound on Middle Ridge Road, sitting on top of the guardrail for the eastbound lane of traffic. An investigation was conducted and the driver, Joshua Neely, age 26 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with OVI, BAC over .170%, and Reckless Operation. | |

On Sunday, March 15, 2009, at approximately 11:51pm, while enroute to an accident on Middle Ridge Road, a vehicle pulled out in front of the officer cutting him off and causing him to brake suddenly. The vehicle then crossed over the eastbound lane of travel and stopped behind a vehicle that was stuck on the guard rail. The officer approached the vehicle and conducted an investigation. The driver, Michael Culpepper Jr., age 21 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with OVI, BAC over .170%, and Driving onto Roadway/Duty to Yield. | |

On Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at approximately 11:40pm, officers were on foot patrol in the downtown area. While exiting Church Street Bar and Grille, Church St, an officer observed two males sitting on a bench in front of the bar. Both males were consuming beer from open cans of Bud Light. Upon observing the violation, an investigation was completed. John W. Fritz, age 19 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Open Container and Underage Consumption. | |

On Wednesday, March 18, 2009, an officer observed a commotion in Quesadilla's Restaurant, Church Street. A male had fallen and struck the back of his head on the concrete. There was a puddle of blood around the back of his head. The male who fell, Challan Ashworth, age 28 of Amherst, was highly intoxicated. Lifecare was called and Mr. Ashworth was then transported to Amherst ER were he was treated for his head injury and intoxication. He was later issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at approximately 2:42am, an officer was dispatched to a three car injury accident at the corner of Tenney Ave. and Spring St. Upon arrival, the officer conducted an investigation and the driver of one of the vehicle, Scott Morris, age 20 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with O.V.I., Underage Consumption, and B.A.C. over .17%. | |

On Saturday, March 21, 2009, at approximately 1:55am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed a male, Johnathan Phinney, age 25 of Amherst, yelling obscene language at the Amherst Police Officers as he walked northbound on Church Street. An investigation followed and Mr. Phinney was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Saturday, March 21, 2009, at approximately 2:10am, an officer observed a male urinating in between a soda machine and an ice machine at the Amherst Party Shop, South Main. The male, Joshua Carroll, age 23 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. |
