On Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at approximately 1:18am, officers were dispatched to Blue Sky Restaurant, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a theft complaint.  It was learned tha two males later identified as Steven Chonko, age 20 of Vermilion, and Dale Besida Jr., age 21 of Vermilion, left the restaurant without paying for their bill.  An off duty officer was in the restaurant at the time and chased the two males.  Officers arrived on scene and both males were apprehended.  Mr. Chonko was arrested for Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Official Business, Petty Theft, Underage Consumption, and Walking Highway Intoxicated.  Mr. Besida Jr. was arrested for Petty Theft and Walking Highway Intoxicated.

On Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at 1:16am, an officer, while on patrol on Park Avenue, noticed a vehicle traveling on Jackson Street without the required front license plate attached to the front of the vehicle and observed the vehicle travel left of center.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Richard Barry, age 32 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Marked Lanes, and Display of Plates.

On Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at 5:58pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department for a bicycle theft complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who stated his ex-wife's garage was entered and his son's bicycle was stolen.  An investigation was conducted and four juvenile suspects were located.  Two were issued citations for Unruly Juvenile and Complicity to Theft, one was issued a citation for Unruly Juvenile, Complicity to Theft, and Complicity to Breaking and Entering, and one was issued a citation for Unruly Juvenile, Theft and Breaking and Entering.

On Thursday, June 7, 2007, at approximately 12:35am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of  on South Main Street and Elyria Avenue, observed a vehicle weaving within its lane of travel.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Cindy Wetzel, age 45 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Weaving, and Open Container.

On Thursday, June 7, 2007, at approximately 3:30pm, an officer was dispatched to Maude Nieding Park, Cleveland Avenue, in reference to a male juvenile that was bragging to have marijuana on his person. The juvenile was later located and was in possession of a cigar tube filled with marijuana.  The juvenile was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana.

On Saturday, June 9, 2007, at approximately 12:08am, an officer, while on patrol, observed the sound of a loud engine racing noise coming from the direction of Motel 6.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, James Milton, age 46 of Elyria, exhibited signs of being intoxicated.  Mr. Milton was arrested and charged with Operation a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Driving under Suspension, and Display of Plates.
