On Sunday, June 28, 2009, at approximately 12:41am, an officer, while on patrol downtown on Church Street, observed an altercation between two males. An investigation followed and one of the males, Karl Baxter, age 35 of Elyria, was found to be the aggressor and used a dangerous weapon during the assault on the other male. He also had three active warrants through other departments. Mr. Baxter was arrested and charged with Felonious Assault, Carrying Concealed Weapon, and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Sunday, June 28, 2009, at approximately 1:42am, an officer, while on patrol on South Main Street at Five Points, observed a vehicle that did not stop for the stop sign at the intersection, was weaving from side to side in its northbound lane of travel, and crossed over the double yellow lines to the left side of the vehicle several times. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Carla Puskas, age 52 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08, Stop Sign, Weaving, and Marked Lanes. | |

On Monday, June 29, 2009, officers were dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in regards to a male attempting to speak with a female. The female advised that the male had an active protection order protecting her against him. An investigation was conducted and the male, Harvey Velazquez, age 47 of Lorain was arrested and charged with Violating a Protection Order. | |

On Monday, June 29, 2009, at approximately 6:25pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Tenney Avenue in reference to a domestic complaint. Upon arrival, officers could hear a male and female yelling at each other in the back yard. An investigation was conducted and it was learned that Justin McCallihan, age 23 of Amherst, and a female were involved in a verbal argument and McCallihan was in possession of a loaded gun. Mr. McCallihan was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Domestic Violence, Possession of a Firearm under Disability, and Intimidation. | |

On Monday, June 29, 2009, at 11:40pm, an officer was dispatched to State Route 2 in regards to a call of a possible intoxicated driver. Upon arrival into the area, the officer located the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. An investigation was conducted and the driver, Jeff Earl, age 48 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Marked Lanes, a felony of the 4th degree due to his five prior convictions, BAC over .17%, and Driving Under Suspension. | |

On Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 2:57am, officers were at Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, conducting an investigation into a recovered stolen vehicle. During the course of the investigation, officers learned of a male, Timothy Schmitz, age 33 of Lorain, that had active warrants staying in one of the motel rooms. Officers located Schmitz in the room and conducted an investigation. Mr. Schmitz was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Drug Abuse Instrument, and Drug Paraphernalia. | |

On Thursday, July 2, 2009, at approximately 3:30pm, an officer was dispatched to an Elyria Avenue address regarding an open burning complaint. Upon arrival, an investigation was conducted and it was determined that the homeowner, Eric Long, age 54 of Amherst, was violating the open burning ordinance. Mr. Long was cited for Open Burning. |
