On Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at 2:50pm, officers were dispatched to State Route 2 westbound for a report of a male motorist that pointed a gun at an off duty Elyria Police Officer.  The vehicle exited the highway via the exit ramp and at State Route 58.  Upon arrival into the area, the officer noted the male subject, Andrew Czerwinski, age 34 of Sandusky, walking towards the car operated by the off duty Elyria Police Officer.  The subject was ordered to display his hands while at gun point and was later placed in handcuffs.  An investigation was conducted and Mr. Czerwinski was charged with Aggravated Menacing, Improper Handling of a Firearm, and Improper Handling of a Firearm.

On Friday, July 9, 2010, at approximately 2:30am, an officer, while on patrol on North Main Street and Cooper Foster Park Road, observed a vehicle weaving from one side of the roadway and then to the other side of the roadway.  The vehicle also crossed over the white line to the right side of the vehicle several times.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Hilarie Peck, age 54 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08, Weaving and Marked Lanes.

On Saturday, July 10, 2010, at approximately 12:11am, an officer, while on bike patrol downtown, observed a disturbance in front of Captain’s Club Bar, Park Avenue.   Two males were in a verbal dispute with each other and two other males attempting to separate them.  The officer made contact with the males involved and conducted an investigation.  One of the males, Theodore Aguayo, age 22 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Obstructing Official Business, Resisting Arrest, Disturbing the Peace, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Disorderly Conduct.

On Saturday, July 10, 2010, at approximately 1:42am, an officer who was working a traffic detail on State Route 58 advised of a vehicle that had nearly struck him and the road workers present.  Officers responded to the area and located the vehicle in question eastbound on Cleveland Avenue.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Madolin Bernard, age 20 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Underage Consumption, BAC over .08%, Reckless Operation, Open Container, Possession of Marijuana, and Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, July 10, 2010, at approximately 2:13am, an officer was dispatched to a possible intoxicated driver that had allegedly struck another vehicle that was parked in the City Parking lot #1. The caller was following the suspect vehicle.  The caller followed the vehicle while it was driving reckless, weaving and failing to stop for stop signs.  The suspect vehicle drove to a residence on Gargasz Drive off of Cooper Foster Park Road.  The officer arrived and conducted an investigation.  The driver, Jesse Gonzalez, age of 31 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated. Bac over .08%, and Reckless Operation.

On Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 2:59pm, officers were assisting the U.S. Marshal Service in looking for a wanted fugitive at Motel 6.  While in the parking lot, an officer observed a male and female drive past him in a vehicle.  The officer recognized the male and knew he had an active protection order against him protecting the female he was with.  The officer made contact with the parties at the front lobby and conducted an investigation.  Jesse Whitlock, age 32 of Vermilion, was arrested and charged with Violating a Temporary Protection Order.

On Saturday, July 10, 2010, at approximately 11:42pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Tenney Avenue in regards to a domestic-in-progress.  Dispatch advised a male was requesting police because his girlfriend was irate and destroying things.  Upon arrival, officers met with both parties and an investigation was conducted.  Ramona Eckenrode, age 55 of Amherst, was determined to be the primary physical aggressor in the incident.   Mr. Eckenrode was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence.
