On Sunday, July 27, 2008, at approximately 12:23am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Lancer Drive in reference to an underage drinking party.  Upon arrival in the area, several people were observed near the residence and an investigation was conducted.  John Pena Jr., age 18 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Sales to Underage Persons and Underage Consumption.  Also cited for Underage Consumption were Kaitlin Bentley, age 18 of Wellington, Madoline Bernard, age 18 of Amherst, Daniel Brady, age 18 of Amherst, Tyra Nazelrod, age 18 of Lorain, Michalena McCann, age 19 of Amherst, Leslie Knight, age 19 of Amherst, Thomas Cruz, age 19 of Lorain, Jasper Ford, age 19 of Lorain, Matthew Diaz, age 19 of Lorain, Skyler Grm, age 19 of Amherst, and four 16 year old juveniles who were later released to their parents.

On Sunday, July 27, 2008, at approximately 2:57am, an officer, while on patrol on South Main Street, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side within its lane of travel and cross over the double yellow line to the left side of the vehicle.  The vehicle then abruptly turned into a driveway.  A traffic stop was initiated.  As the officer was exiting his cruiser, the driver, Christopher Abraham, age 35 of Amherst, quickly exited his vehicle and began to walk away.  An investigation was conducted and Mr. Abraham was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Weaving, Marked Lanes, Drug Abuse, Paraphernalia, Tampering with Evidence, Resisting Arrest, Unsafe Vehicle, and Expired OLN.

On Sunday, July 27, 2008, at approximately 3:44am, officers were dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a male and female fighting.  Upon arrival, the female, Heather Zimmer, age 21 of Elyria, was found to have kicked out the room window and was bleeding profusely.  An investigation was conducted and the Ms. Zimmer was later arrested after being released from the hospital.  Ms. Zimmer was issued a citation for Criminal Damage, Disturbing the Peace, and Disorderly Conduct.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at approximately 12:14am, an officer, while patrolling Harris School located a bicycle lying in the grass on the north side of the building.  The bicycle was taken and placed into storage at the Amherst Police Department.  Anyone missing the bicycle should contact the police department with a further description.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 2:26am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Spruce Tree Lane in reference to a theft from vehicle/criminal damaging complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer began checking the area and observed three males on Old Oak Road. Upon seeing the officer, the males, one of which was on a bicycle, fled through the Rock Creek Run development.  After a lengthy foot chase and investigation, William Simmons, age 20 of Lorain, and a 16 year old male, were apprehended.  Officers checked the Rock Creek Run area and located several vehicles had been entered and various items taken.  Mr. Simmons was arrested and charged with Vehicle Trespass, Criminal Damaging, Theft, Obstructing Official Business, and Underage Consumption.  The 16 year old juvenile was arrested and charged with Theft, Underage Consumption, Possession of Tobacco Products, Curfew, Obstructing Official Business, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Damaging, and Vehicle Trespass.

On Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at approximately 3:00am, an officer was dispatched to Pinecrest Apartments, Middle Ridge Road, in reference to a male sitting in a vehicle possibly smoking marijuana.  Upon arrival, the officer located the male in question, Thomas Zobel, age 30 of Amherst, in the vehicle and an investigation was conducted.  Mr. Zobel was arrested and charged with Forgery, Receiving Stolen Property, Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.

On Saturday, August 2, 2008, at approximately 2:50am, an officer was dispatcher to a North Main Street, Amherst, in regards to a vehicle that had driven off the roadway and was buried in the tree line.  Upon arrival, the officer observed a vehicle off of the roadway in a wooded area and no one around.  While out on scene investigating, the driver of the vehicle, Chadd Wilson, age 23 of Lorain, arrived via a Lorain Police Officer.  Mr. Wilson had walked home after the accident and called the Lorain Police Department to report that he had been forced off of the roadway by another vehicle.  A further investigation was conducted and Mr. Wilson was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicate, State Refusal, and Failure to Control.

On Saturday, August 2, 2008, at approximately 8:01am, officers were dispatched to the area of Park Avenue and Jackson Street in reference to a male throwing items out of the residence and glass breaking.  Upon arrival, an investigation was conducted and it was learned that the male, Donald Haas, age 45 of Amherst, had been upset with his live-in girlfriend.  Mr. Haas was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct.
