On Sunday, July 20, 2008, at approximately 1:02am, an officer while on patrol downtown, observed an intoxicated male, later identified as Ryan Suta, age 26 of Amherst, arguing with another male in front of Cedar Pub, Park Avenue.  An investigation was conducted and Mr. Suta was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, Disturbing the Peace, and Resisting Arrest.

On Sunday, July 20, 2008, at approximately 2:48am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed a male walking and stumbling down Church Street.  The male used offensive language that could have led to a violent reaction resulting in an altercation.  The officer approached the male, Scott Karohl, age 34 of Amherst, and conducted an investigation.  Mr. Karohl was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication.

On Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 11:21pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Westchester Drive in reference to a large group of juveniles in the street yelling and screaming.  Upon arrival to the area, the officers noticed a younger male riding a bicycle without lights northbound on Ravenglass Boulevard near Shupe Avenue.  The officers approached the juvenile male and conducted an investigation. The juvenile was cited for Lights on Bicycle, Possession of Tobacco Products, Underage Consumption, Possession of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia.

On Monday, July 21, 2008, at approximately 3:00pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a criminal damaging complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim who stated she had two tires slashed on her vehicle and suspected her boyfriend, Harley Aley III, age 37 of Amherst.  After an investigation, Mr. Aley was arrested and charged with Criminal Damaging.

On Monday, July 21, 2008, at 5:24pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a missing juvenile complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complainant who advised his 16 year old daughter left their residence on Saturday without permission, later got into a verbal argument over the phone and hadn’t come home since.  An investigation was conducted and contact was made with the juvenile female.  She was cited for Unruly Child and turned over to her father.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 12:36am, an officer, while on patrol on Cleveland Avenue near Washington Street, observed a vehicle weaving within its lane of travel and make a left turn in an aggressive manner and at a high rate of speed into a private driveway on Cleveland Avenue.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Jacob McQueen, age 27 of Michigan, was arrested and charged for Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, and Weaving.

On Tuesday July 22, 2008, at 2:45pm, an officer was dispatched to Target, Oak Point Road, in reference to a theft complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with store security and was advised he witnessed two male subjects cutting packages open with a knife and placing the contents in their pockets.  An investigation was conducted and Robert Cruz, age 18 of Lorain, was arrested for Petty Theft and Criminal Tools. The other male, age 16 of Amherst, was arrested for Petty Theft.

On Thursday, July 24, 2008, at approximately 12:30am, an officer, while on patrol on North Main Street and Cooper Foster Park Road, observed a vehicle operating without the proper rear license plate illumination.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Richard Short, age 40 of Elyria, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Driving under Suspension, and Plate Light.

On Friday, July 25, 2008, at approximately 5:25am, an officer, while out on a call at Speedway, North Leavitt Road, observed a highly intoxicated female enter a vehicle as if she were attempting to drive the vehicle.  The officer made contact with the female, Sherri Bennett, age 37 of Amherst, and advised her not to drive and to call someone for a ride.  Several minutes later, Ms. Bennett was observed at Denny's Restaurant, North Leavitt Road, and it appeared she was having trouble standing up.  She advised the officer that she was going to wait at Denny's for a ride.  After clearing the call at Speedway, the officer observed Ms. Bennett's vehicle exit Speedway's parking lot with Ms. Sherri Bennett driving.  The vehicle entered State Route 2 westbound and exited at the Oak Point Road exit.  The officer initiated a traffic stop and conducted an investigation.  Ms. Bennett was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, and Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order.

On Saturday, July 26, 2008, at approximately 1:11am, an officer, while on patrol, observed a male riding his bike on North Lake Street with no lights on the bike and weaving in and out of traffic causing a substantial risk to his welfare.  A traffic stop was initiated on the bike and the male was found to exhibit signs of being intoxicated.  The male, Scott Fields, age 48 of Amherst, was cited for Lights on Bike, Disorderly Conduct Intoxicated, and Roadway Intoxicated.

On Saturday, July 26, 2008, at approximately 2:42am, an officer, while on patrol on South Main Street at Beaver Court, observed a male riding a bicycle without lights as required by law.  A stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The rider, Jimmie Parker, age 49 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication.
