On Sunday, July 12, 2009, at approximately 2:26am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of Park Avenue and Church Street, observed a male cursing and yelling at several people in an aggressive manner.  The officer approached the male and conducted an investigation.  The male, Darius Jackson, age 24 of Elyria, was cited for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication.

On Monday, July 13, 2009, at approximately 11:35pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Milan Avenue in reference to a loud disturbance involving people and a vehicle that struck some type of object.  Upon arrival, officers located two males that were intoxicated and making a lot of excessive noise and disturbing the neighborhood.  An investigation was conducted and Michael Haas, age 50 of Amherst, and Donald Haas, age 46 of Amherst, were both cited for Disturbing the Peace and Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2009, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Pearl Street in reference to the resident reporting that he smelled smoke in the area from what he felt was an illegal fire.  Officers checked the area and a smoldering fire was located on Mill Avenue.  The Amherst Fire Department was called to extinguish the fire.  An investigation was conducted and the homeowner, Peter Toth, age 52 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Open Burning.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at approximately 3:03pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Spruce Tree Lane and State Route 58 for an intoxicated male that had left a residence after being inside of it and scaring the children.  An investigation was conducted and the male, David Loos, age 31 of Lorain, was later located and arrested for Burglary and Domestic Violence.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 3:55pm, officers were dispatched to Tuffy Muffler, North Leavitt Road, in reference to an intoxicated male causing a disturbance.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the male was intoxicated and left the parking lot.  Officers located the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated.  An investigation was conducted and the driver, David Loos, age 31 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08, Driving under Suspension, Weaving, and Driving in Marked Lanes.

On Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 10:40pm, officers were dispatched to the Norfolk and Southern railroad tracks near Maple Street for juveniles on the tracks throwing rocks onto the street.  Upon arrival, officers located several male juveniles and an investigation was conducted.  The males, ages 13, 15, and 17, were issued citations for Railroad Trespass.

On Thursday, July 16, 2009, at approximately 2:16am, an officer observed a vehicle parked in a suspicious nature at the end of the cul-de-sac on Meadowbrook Court.  The officer approached the occupied vehicle and conducted an investigation. Justin Brown, age 18 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption.

On Thursday, July 17, 2009, at approximately 11:52pm, an officer observed three subjects walking in the middle of North Main Street near Cooper Foster Park Road.  The officer stopped the subjects and an investigation was conducted.   A juvenile male, age 16, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption and released to his mother.

On Thursday, July 17, 2009, at approximately 11:13pm, an officer observed two younger looking males running through the middle of North Leavitt Road and Kresge Drive intersection during a time with heavy traffic.  The officer stopped the males in front of Speedway and conducted an investigation.  James Harwood, age 19 of Lorain, was cited for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 12:51am, an officer, while on patrol in City Parking lot #3, observed a male, later identified as Christopher Osidach, age 22 of Lorain, climbing on the outside of the fence that encloses RC Brewhouse’s patio.  He then got down and started walking through the parking lot with an open beer bottle.  The officer stopped Mr. Osidach and conducted an investigation.  Mr. Osidach was issued a citation for Open Container and Possession of Marijuana.

On Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 1:11am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, heard a disturbance and noticed a small group of people near the corner of Park Avenue and Church Street.   Three males were arguing and yelling obscenities towards each other.   Officers approached the males and conducted an investigation.  Andy Taylor, age 23 of Lorain, Christipher Stipe, age 30 of Vermilion, and Christopher Osidach, age 22 of Lorain, were all issued citations for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication and Disturbing the Peace.

On Saturday, July 18, 2009, at approximately 2:41am, officers were dispatched to North Quarry Road in reference to juveniles refusing to leave the property.  Upon arrival, the officers met with the complainant who stated that there had been several kids on his property drinking alcohol.  He asked them to leave and they refused.  Officers checked the area and   located five juveniles in the woods.  An investigation was conducted and the juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were issued citations for Underage Consumption and released to parents.

On Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 12:23pm, officers were dispatched to Days Inn, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a possible fight involving a male and a female. Both were observed arguing by the complainant who also observed the female push the male. The male was then observed to choke the female and grab her by the hair.  Upon arrival, officers conducted an investigation.  The female, Latasha Hughes, age 25 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Violating a Temporary Protection Order.
