On Sunday, January 7, 2007, at 3:54am, an officer, while on patrol, performed a traffic stop on a vehicle for a violation that was leaving Motel 6 on North Leavitt Road.  During the traffic stop, it was learned that there was an underage alcohol/drug party going on at the motel.  An investigation was conducted and Amy Yorks, age 20 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption, Underage Sales, and Contributing Delinquency of Minors.  A fifteen year old juvenile male was issued a citation for Underage Consumption, Curfew, Criminal Damage, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, and Disorderly Conduct Persisting. Four other juvenile males were also cited for Underage Consumption and Curfew.  All juveniles were released to guardians.

On Monday, January 8, 2007, at 10:00am, an officer to a complaint from a female stating she was assaulted at RC’s Brewhouse on January 7th at bar closing.  An investigation was conducted and the female stated she did not wish to file charges because the assault was her fault.  A report was made for file.

On Monday, January 8, 2007, at 11:36pm, an officer, while on patrol, noticed a vehicle traveling on West Martin Avenue with two flat passenger side tires.  The officer effected a traffic stop and the driver, Charles Zvosec, age 52 of Amherst, exhibited signs of being intoxicated.  During the investigation, a witness approached the officer and stated he heard the vehicle strike something and saw the vehicle driving off the curb.  Mr. Zvosec was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, B.A.C. over .08%, and Failure to Control.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at approximately 12:08am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Sharondale Drive in reference to a 911 hang up and possible domestic dispute.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to the male and female involved and learned they were involved in a verbal argument.  An investigation was conducted and it was determined that no physical violence occurred.  The male left for the night and a report was made for file.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at approximately 7:40pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Greenlawn to take custody of four guns.  Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the caller who stated that his son is on probation and his probation officer advised him to contact the Amherst Police Department to take custody of four airsoft guns because it was a violation of his probation to be in possession of them.  The guns were taken for safekeeping.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at approximately 8:40pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Cornell Avenue in reference to a criminal damage complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised he heard a noise outside and when he checked, he saw a bicycle lying near his vehicle.  He stated he noticed minor damage to his vehicle and requested a report for insurance.  The bicycle is described as a purple colored 20" BMX style bicycle with white tires, purple painted rims, white pedals, a white seat, and white handgrips.  The bicycle was taken to the city storage facility.

On Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at approximately 9:40am, Sgt. Cawthon and his K9 partner, Bandit, assisted in conducting a drug sweep of the Veteran's home located on Columbus Avenue in Sandusky.  Bandit was given command to sniff the exterior doors of approximately one hundred different doors at the home.  Bandit alerted to three doors. The VA police department was advised of the alerts and conducted further investigations after the sweep was conducted.

On Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at approximately 10:56pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Keswick Court in reference to a 911 hang up call with yelling heard in the background.  Upon arrival, the officers met with the homeowner who stated he wanted his daughter removed from the residence.  He stated she continuously starts trouble with her other siblings and became involved in a verbal argument with her brother tonight.  An investigation was conducted and it was learned that no physical violence had occurred.  Both parties were advised to have no contact with one another for the remainder of the night.  A report was made for file.

On Thursday, January 11, 2007, at 2:20am, officers, while on patrol, noticed a male standing outside of Ziggy's Pub, Park Avenue, yelling and using foul language.  The male was very unsteady on his feet and his body was swaying from side to side and back and forth.  A male bar patron exited Cedar Pub and approached the officers advising this same male was drunk and causing problems inside of the bar earlier. The officers made contact with the male, Daniel Emerick, age 26 of Amherst, as he was walking on Church Street.  Mr. Emerick was ordered not drive tonight and offered a ride to his residence by the officers.  Mr. Emerick stated he was going to get his jacket from inside of the bar and come back out.  The officer later observed Emerick operating his vehicle attempting to pull out of a parking space on Tenney Avenue.  Mr. Emerick was stopped and arrested for Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Driving Under Suspension, Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order from a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication, Drug Abuse; Possession of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia.

On Thursday, January 11, 2007, at approximately 8:12am, an officer responded to the Amherst Jr. High School for a missing juvenile complaint.  The officer met with the principle and it was learned that the juvenile’s mother advised him that she had not seen her son since the evening before.  The juvenile was located at the school and he advised he spent the night at a friend’s house because he got into an argument with his mom.  The mother was notified and a report was made for file.

On Thursday, January 11, 2007, at approximately 12:05pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Foresthill Drive in reference to a 911 hang up call. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male  at the garage door. He had an obvious welt on his cheek, several small cuts and abrasions on his face and an open cut on his right index finger knuckle.  An investigation was conducted and the male’s father, Dallas Jones, age 52 of Amherst, admitted to hitting his son.  Mr. Jones was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence.

On Thursday, January 11, 2007, at approximately 5:24pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Cleveland Avenue in reference to a breaking and entering complaint. Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant who advised someone broke in the door to his house. The complainant advised the house belongs to his late father and nothing appeared to be missing. He only wanted to make our department aware.  A report was made for file.

On Thursday, January 11, 2007, at approximately 8:10pm, an officer was dispatched to Save-A-Lot, Cooper Foster Park Road, in reference to an employee theft complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the Loss Prevention Specialist who advised that a store employee, Tracy Resko, age 30 of Lorain, was observed stealing merchandise from the store.  Ms. Resko was arrested and charged with Petty Theft.

On Friday, January 12, 2007, at approximately 11:25am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on North Ridge Road in reference to a theft from a vehicle complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who stated when she went to her vehicle in the morning, she discovered her car stereo was missing.  An investigation was conducted and it was learned that officers were dispatched to the same area during the night for two males going through a car.  The males were not located.  One of the male was reportedly wearing a tan hooded coat and the other was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt. The males left in an unknown direction and nothing was reported missing from the vehicle at this residence. The identity of these males is unknown at this time.   A report was made for file.

On Friday, January 12, 2007, at approximately 9:10pm, an officer, while on patrol, overheard radio traffic that the Amherst First Responders were responding to the BP Gas station, North Leavitt Road, for a female that was having a seizure.  The officer responded to assist.  Upon arrival, the female was unconscious and not breathing.  The officer began rescue breathing for her until the ambulance arrived.  The female was transported to the hospital and a report was made for file.

On Saturday, January 13, 2007, at approximately 1:20am, an officer, while on patrol in the Motel 6 parking lot, North Leavitt Road, observed several subjects consuming alcoholic beverages outside on the property.  Upon speaking with the subjects all were found to be under the age of 21 years old.  Some of the subjects were also found to have drugs in their possession and have active warrants.  Justin Fout, age 20 of Lagrange, was arrested for Resisting Arrest, Underage Consumption, Disturbing the Peace, Disorderly Conduct Intox, and Disorderly Conduct Persisting.  Denver Meinhold, age 18 of Lagrange, was arrested for Underage Consumption, Drug Paraphernalia, Possession Marijuana, Disorderly Conduct Intox, and Disorderly Conduct Persisting.  Kelly Riley, age 18 of Grafton, was cited for Underage Consumption, Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession Marijuana.  Dean Samples, age 19 of Columbia Station, was cited for Underage Consumption and Open Container.  A 17 yearl old male from Grafton was cited for Underage Consumption and Curfew and a 16 year old male from Columbia Station was cited for Underage Consumption, Open Container, Possession Tobacco Products, and Curfew.

On Saturday, January 13, 2007, at approximately 11:54pm, an officer, while on patrol in the area of North Lake Street and West Martin Street, observed a vehicle weaving within its lane and cross over the double yellow lines in the center of the roadway several times.  A traffic stop was effected and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Loraine Csincsak, age 44 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Weaving Course, and Marked Lanes.
