On Sunday, January 4, 2009, at approximately 2:20am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of West Martin and Stonebridge, observed a female walking very close to the roadway causing the officer to move to the left. He turned around in an effort to check on her welfare. Upon turning around, the female was located hiding under a pine tree. She was identified as Meghan Hosier, age 19 of Amherst. Ms. Hosier was cited for Underage Consumption. | |

On Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at approximately 9:15pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Beech Cliff Drive for a domestic complaint. Upon arrival, the officers conducted an investigation. Kenneth Cobb, age 39 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Menacing, Domestic Violence, and Disruption to Public Service. | |

On Thursday, January 8, 2009, at approximately 3:33pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on North Main Street regarding a possible burglary in progress. This property is currently vacant due to a fire the house sustained. According to the caller, several juveniles just made entry into the vacant house using the garage door. Upon arrival, five juveniles fled from the rear of the house. All were apprehended, and detained. It was determined that one of the juveniles was the homeowner’s son and had permission to be at the house. Two of the juveniles, ages 14 and 16, had contraband on their person. They were cited for Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Tobacco. | |

On Friday, January 9, 2009, at approximately 4:03pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Milan Avenue regarding a complaint of an unruly juvenile. Upon arrival, the officer met with the mother who advised that her 15 year old daughter left school early without permission and was at a boy’s house on Milan Avenue. An investigation was conducted and the female juvenile was located in a bedroom closet, and taken into custody. She was cited for Unruly Child. | |

On Sunday, January 11 2009, at approximately 2:05am, an officer observed several males standing in the middle of Church Street involved in an altercation. The officer then observed a male, later identified as Omar Ramos, age 24 of Lorain, assault another male involved. All parties were separated and an investigation was conducted. Mr. Ramos was found to be intoxicated and provided false information in an attempt to hide his true identity. Mr. Ramos was later arrested and charged with Obstructing Official Business and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Friday, January 16, 2008, at 2:10am, an officer, while on patrol at the intersection of Church Street and Tenney Avenue, observed a vehicle fail to stop prior to exiting the parking lot and drive towards the curb and swerve back towards the center of the lane. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Michael Schultz, age 29 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Weaving, and Driving in Marked Lanes. | |

On Friday, January 16, 2009, officers were dispatched to a residence on North Leavitt Road in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the involved parties. It was discovered a juvenile male had made threats against his mother and had called her several vulgarities. Further, the mother advised the juvenile had assaulted his father prior, and she feared since the father would be going to work the juvenile would act upon his threats towards the mother. The juvenile was transported to the Turning Point and charged with Domestic Violence. | |

On Sunday, January 18, 2009, at approximately 12:33am, officers were dispatched to the Pour House, Park Avenue, regarding a complaint of an intoxicated male that had been thrown out of the establishment, and had come back and refused to leave. Upon arrival, the officers located the male, Steven Wiley, age 25 of Oberlin, in City Lot 1. Mr. Wiley was very intoxicated and had trouble standing and talking. Mr. Wiley was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Disturbing the Peace. | |

On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at approximately 4:10pm, an officer was dispatched to Rite Aid, South Leavitt Road, regarding a theft complaint. Dispatch advised that employees caught a juvenile stealing an item. Upon arrival, an investigation was conducted and the 14 year old juvenile was charged with Petty Theft and released to his parents. | |

On Saturday, January 24, 2009, at approximately 4:47pm, an officer was dispatched to Church Street Bar and Grill, Church Street, regarding a theft complaint. Upon arrival, officers met with an employee who advised three males left without paying for their food. An investigation was conducted and one of the males, Kevin Simashkevich, age 20 of Amherst, was charged with 2 counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The other two juveniles, ages 14 and 15 of Lorain, were charged with Unruly Juvenile. | |

On Sunday, January 25, 2009, at approximately 4:05am, officers were dispatched to Denny’s, North Leavitt Road, in reference to an irate female inside causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a female who was yelling and cursing inside the restaurant. An investigation followed and the female, April Sheppard, age 27 of Lorain, was cited for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Disturbing the Peace. | |

On Monday, January 26, 2009, at 4:31pm, an officer was dispatched to Physician's Weight Loss Center, Kresge Drive, in regards to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with an employee who advised that two customers were in the store and stole dietary supplements. An investigation was conducted and Frances Brooks, age 53 of Wellington, was later arrested and charged with Petty Theft. | |

On Monday, January 26, 2009, at approximately 5:40pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Cortland Circle for a male with a gun trying to break out the window of a car with people inside. Upon officers arrival the car was gone but the suspect, Christopher Snider, age 35 of Oberlin, remained. An investigation was conducted and Snider was arrested and charged with Violating a Protection Order. It was determined no weapon was used during the incident. | |

On Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at approximately 10:43pm, officers were dispatched to McDonald's, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a male that was yelling and causing a problem and was refusing to leave. Upon arrival, the officers met with the nightshift manager and an investigation was conducted. The male, Stanley Collins, age 48 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, Criminal Trespass, Disturbing the Peace, and Open Container. | |

On Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at approximately 5:05pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Church Street regarding a 15 year old juvenile that was not doing his chores and had threatened his mother with a knife. Dispatch advised the juvenile left the house on foot. Upon arrival, an investigation was conducted, and a short time later, the juvenile was located on Tenney Avenue. He was charged with Unruly Juvenile, Domestic Violence, and Aggravated Menacing. | |

On Saturday, January 31, 2009, at approximately 12:36am, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department, North Lake Street, in regards to a vehicle that had just run off of the roadway and was stuck in the ditch. Upon arrival, the officer met with the driver of the vehicle, Christina Ortiz, age 31 of Lorain, and an investigation was conducted. Ms. Ortiz was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Failure to Control, Marked Lanes, and Obstructing Official Business. | |

On Saturday, January 31, 2009, at approximately 5:47am, officers were dispatched to the area of Ford Avenue and York Imperial in reference to a 911 hang up call. Upon call back, the caller advised that she had observed two males yelling at one another. The caller also reported hearing a crash near a vehicle on York Imperial and observed two males walking eastbound. Upon arrival in the area, the males involved were located and an investigation was conducted. Matthew Hayslett, age 26 of Vermilion, and David Zadorozny, age 28 of Lorain, both exhibited signs of being intoxicated and were cited for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. |
