On Sunday, January 24, 2010, at 3:54pm, officers responded to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a discrepancy with the payment of a rented room and that two females who were at the front desk to pay appeared to be under the influence of some type of controlled substance.  Upon arrival, officers met with several parties in the room and an investigation was conducted.  O’Neil Gomes, age 26 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Heroin, Possession of Heroin, Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Xanax, Tampering with Records, Forgery, and Identity Fraud.

On Sunday, January 24, 2010, at approximately 11:35pm, an officer responded to Saint Joseph Church, Saint Joseph Drive, in regards to a suspicious occupied van parked near the convent in between the vehicles owned by the residents.  Upon arrival, the officer observed the vehicle in question and made contact with the occupants.  An investigation was conducted and the driver, Curtis Liston, age 19 of North Ridgeville, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle after Underage Consumption and Underage Consumption.  Three of the passengers, Alisha White, age 19 of Amherst, Ian Mercer, age 19 of Grafton, and a 17 year old male, were all charged with Underage Consumption.  Another passenger, Heidi Wingard, age 19 of Lorain, was charged with Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, Disturbing the Peace, and Obstructing Official Business.

On Monday, January 25, 2010, at approximately 2:43am, officers responded to Speedway Gas Station, North Leavitt Road, in reference to an intoxicated male consuming alcohol in the store and in his vehicle.  Upon arrival, the officer located the male in question and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The suspect reversed his vehicle and struck the police cruiser.  The operator, Timothy Zacharias, age 20 of Elyria, was eventually detained and found to be intoxicated and underage.  He was also found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle, stolen license plate and had a felony warrant through the Medina County Sheriffs Office.   Mr. Zacharias was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property 2 counts, Carrying Concealed Weapon, Driving under Suspension, Operation Vehicle Intoxicated, Underage Consumption, Open Container, Fictitious Plates, Expired Plates, and Reckless Operation Private Property.

On Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at approximately 2:36pm, officers were dispatched to the Amherst Junior High School, Milan Avenue, regarding an unknown problem.  According to the information given to dispatch, police assistance was needed immediately, however the nature of the problem remained unknown.  Upon arrival, the officers met with the principal and gym teacher who advised there was a fight during gym class and the juvenile that was punched yelled some threats, ran from the principal, and started swinging a stick around.  In an effort to protect the students in the vicinity of the incident, the principal evacuated some students from the building.  The 14 year old student was arrested and charged with Inducing Panic, Aggravated Menacing, and Unruly Juvenile.  He was then taken to the Lorain County Detention Home.

On Friday, January 29, 2010, at approximately 2:32am, officers responded to the area of State Route 2 westbound near the west city limit in regards to a report of a possible intoxicated drive.  The caller advised that the vehicle was all over the roadway and nearly came to a complete stop in the middle of State Route 2 and then accelerated.  Officers located the vehicle in question and a traffic stop was initiated.  An investigation was conducted and the driver, Darren Buchanan, age 46 of Cleveland, was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Marijuana, Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Possession of Marijuana, Paraphernalia, Weaving, and Marked Lanes.

On Saturday, January 30, 2010, at approximately 2:36am, an officer, while on patrol on Middle Ridge and Elyria Avenue, observed a vehicle traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, weaving from side to side within its lane of travel, and cross over the double line to the left of the vehicle.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Jaime Teague, age 30 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Open Container, Weaving Course, and Marked Lanes.

On Saturday, January 30, 2010, at approximately 4:04am, officers were dispatched to Blue Sky Restaurant, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a female that ran away without paying the bill.  During the investigation, the female was located walking across Cooper Foster Park Road and identified as Angela Geiger, age 39 of Lorain.  Ms. Geiger was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication and Walking Highways Intoxicated.  She was later released to the Lorain County Sheriff Depart on their active warrant.

On Saturday, January 30, 2010, at 4:28am, officers, while in the parking lot of Blue Sky Restaurant investigating a complaint, observed a vehicle traveling on North Leavitt Road at what appeared to be a very high rate of speed and in a reckless manner.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Allison Frey, age 18 of Lorain, was arrested and charged Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Underage Consumption, Possession of Marijuana, Reckless Operation, and Weaving.
