On Sunday, January 21, 2007, at 1:55am, an officer was dispatched to the State Route 2 west bound exit ramp at State Route 58 in reference to a vehicle stopped in the intersection. Upon arrival, the officer found the driver to be sleeping with his driver's side window down and arm hanging out of the vehicle. An investigation was conducted and the driver, Raymundo Vaquero, age 41 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated and State Refusal. | |

On Monday, January 22, 2007, at 3:40pm, an officer was dispatched to an injury accident on Cleveland Avenue where a vehicle struck a utility pole. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the operator and owner of the vehicle, Michelle Blazer, age 36 of Lorain, who exhibited signs of being intoxicated. An investigation was conducted and Ms. Blazer was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated and Failure to Control. Ms. Blazer was transported to the hospital for the injuries sustained from the accident. | |

On Monday, January 22, 2007, at 6:05pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a passing bad check complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant, who stated a check was received for an exchange of property and returned to the complainant due the account it was drawn from being closed. The complainant wrote a formal letter to the suspect via certified mail for reimbursement of the amount owed, but the letter was refused and returned to the post office. The suspect was contacted and advised of the complaint. Another check was issued and a report was made for file. | |

On Monday, January 22, 2007, at 8:38pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Blossom Drive in reference to a suspicious female going door to door asking for money and a ride. Upon arrival, officers located the female in question. An investigation was conducted and it was determined that officers had responded to several calls concerning this same female and similar actions in the past and that she had also altered and cashed a check that she received. During all of the past incidents, none of the victims wished to file a criminal complaint due to feeling sorry for the female. The female was transported out of the area and advised on her actions. A report was made for file. | |

On Monday, January 22, 2007, at 12:15am, an officer, while on patrol, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for several violations. An investigation was conducted and the driver, Christine Whitt, age 38 of Amherst, exhibited signs of being intoxicated. Ms. Whitt was arrested and charged with Felony Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170, Driving Under Suspension, Possession of Marijuana and Unsafe Vehicle. The passenger in the vehicle, Robert Pries, age 37 of Amherst was cited for Open Container, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Disorderly Conduct. | |

On Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at approximately 3:30pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on East Martin Street in reference to a misuse of credit card complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the victims who stated their juvenile grandson used their credit card to purchase pornographic material on the Internet. An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was charged with three counts of Misuse of a Credit Card. | |

On Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at approximately 3:39pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a juvenile harassment complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to a parent who stated her daughter was being harassed by another female student while attending Amherst Junior High School. She stated this has been an ongoing problem and a prior incident involving these two juveniles was reported. An investigation was conducted and the allegations could not be verified. The juveniles were both spoken to and a report was made for file. | |

On Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at 6:53pm, officers were dispatched to South Main Street in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers observed that a vehicle had collided with a house. Contact was made with the driver, Drema Dittmer, age 44 of Lorain, who stated she had consumed alcoholic beverages prior to operating the vehicle and lost control. An investigation was conducted and Ms. Dittmer was arrested and charged Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Failure to Control and Prohibited BAC. | |

On Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at 11:25pm, an officer, while on patrol at the intersection of Church Street and Park Avenue, noticed a male who was very unsteady on his feet and stumbling down the street. The officer made contact with the male, Edwin Wilburn, age 38 of Amherst. While speaking with Mr. Wilburn, the officer detected an extremely strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from on or about his person and his speech was slurred when speaking. Due to Mr. Wilburn's intoxicated state, and the fact he was danger to himself or someone else he was cited for Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication and transported home. | |

On Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at 2:39am, an officer was dispatched to Giant Eagle, Kresge Drive, in reference to a male that was attempting to steal cigarettes and obtain keys to the Pepsi machine. Giant Eagle security followed the male outside and witnessed him get into a red in color Mercury Villager van and leave the area. An investigation was conducted and the suspect, Terry Rector, age 35 of Lorain, was later located and admitted to stealing cigarettes and attempting to gain access to the pop machine. Mr. Rector was arrested and charged with Theft and 2 counts of Attempted Theft. | |

On Friday, January 26, 2007, at 12:40am, an officer, while on patrol, located a male walking on South Lake Street near Milan Avenue. The officer stopped to speak with the male, later identified as Jesse Crum, age 19 of Amherst. Mr. Crum exhibited signs of being intoxicated and was issued a citation for Underage Consumption. | |

On Friday, January 26, 2007, at approximately 11:34am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Terra Lane in reference to a 911 hang up call. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the elderly caller who advised he had been sending money to various mailings he was receiving. In the mailings, the subjects were informing the elderly male that he had possibly won lotteries and various awards and was told to send them money to obtain his possible winnings. An investigation was conducted and is pending at this time. | |

On Friday, January 26, 2007, at approximately 2:44pm, an officer was dispatched to Dr. Elbert’s Dentist Office, Cooper Foster Park Road, in reference to a menacing complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with a staff member who stated an unhappy belligerent patient was planning on coming to the office to confront the staff because they refused to give him a prescription for Vicoden. An investigation was conducted and a report was taken for further review. | |

On Friday, January 26, 2007, at approximately 2:55pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Junior High School, Milan Avenue, in reference to a complaint that a student brought a weapon to school. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the Principal and Assistant Principal who stated three students told them about another student having a knife and explained the circumstances how they knew about it. An investigation was conducted and the juvenile male admitted to bringing a knife and discarding it outside prior to his last class. The knife was located and confiscated. The juvenile was issued a citation for Illegal Conveyance of a Weapon upon School Grounds, Unruly Juvenile, Tampering with Evidence and Assault. | |

On Friday, January 26, 2007, at approximately 8:40pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Rock Creek Run in reference to an unruly juvenile complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim, who advised his stepson stole one of his personal checks then took the check to the bank, filled it out, and attempted to cash it. The juvenile was arrested and charged with Unruly Juvenile, Forgery, and Theft of a Check. He was transported to the Lorain County Juvenile Detention Home. | |

On Saturday, January 27, 2007, at approximately 11:15am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Rock Creek Run in reference to an unruly child. Upon arrival, it was learned that the caller’s juvenile son left the home after being told not to. Officers located the juvenile in the nearby area and he was returned to the residence. The juvenile was issued a citation for Unruly Juvenile. | |

On Saturday, January 27, 2007, at approximately 5:10pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Middle Ridge Road in reference to a telephone harassment complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend has been calling his house and leaving harassing and threatening messages. An investigation was conducted and the ex-boyfriend was advised by the officer to cease further contact or criminal charges would be filed. A report was made for file at this time. |
