On Sunday, January 17, 2010, at approximately 1:44am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed an occupied suspicious vehicle in the rear True Value parking lot, Tenney Avenue.  An investigation followed and the driver, Matthew Esser, age 26 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Possession Cocaine, Drug Abuse Instrument, Drug Paraphernalia, and Expired Plates.

On Sunday, January 17, 2010, at approximately 11:40pm, an officer, while on patrol, observed a vehicle sitting in the parking lot of the Marathon Gas station, North Leavitt Road.  The officer stopped to check on the vehicle due to the fact that the business was preparing to close.  An investigation was conducted and the driver, Sean Bankston, age 18 of Amherst, was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana, and Paraphernalia.  The 17 year old juvenile passenger was issued a citation for drug abuse.

On Friday, January 22, 2010, at approximately 1:31am, an officer, while on patrol on North Main Street the Five Points intersection, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side in its lane of travel.  The vehicle also crossed over the double yellow lines to the left side of the vehicle several times.  A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, Ryan Hollohazy, age 21 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Weaving Course, and Marked Lanes.

On Friday, January 22, 2010, at approximately 11:05pm, several Amherst officers assisted the Ohio Department of Public Safety in conducting investigations into liquor violations at the downtown bar establishments.  Agents, along with an 18 year old male informant, entered the bar establishments attempting to purchase alcohol.  The 18 year old male was wired for audio and his encounters with the bar staff were monitored.  An agent was also on scene to witness the transactions.  The following bartenders were issued citations for Sales to Underage Person:

                          

                           Mary Kinsley, age 27, Church Street Bar and Grille

                           Constance Captain, age 42, Cedar Pub

                           Kristin Kolcun, age 27, The Pour House

                           Megan Elwell, age 26, Park Lanes

                           Mary Bockey, age 53, Captain’s Club

 

           Agents obtained all the proper information concerning the liquor license for the establishment and issued a 

           civil citation to the each owner.

On Friday, January 22, 2010, at approximately 11:42pm, an officer, while on patrol at Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle due to its suspicious activity in the parking lot.  The driver, Jennifer Keating, age 41, of Lorain, was found to be in possession of an open container of wine and subsequently arrested for Open Container.
