On Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 2:34am, officers were dispatched to the area of North Main Street and West Martin Avenue in reference to an accident in which a vehicle struck a telephone pole and left the scene. An officer, who arrived on scene, advised the front bumper and license plate of the suspect vehicle had fallen off and was still there. Officers began checking the area for the vehicle. Dispatch received a 911 call from a motorist who stated she witnessed the operator of a vehicle strike a couple of mailboxes and snow banks, and then pull into the parking lot of Dovin Funeral Home located on Cooper Foster Park Road. Officers responded to the parking lot the funeral home and located the suspect vehicle parked in the parking lot with heavy front end damage and a flat front passenger's side tire. An investigation was conducted and the driver, Casey Liberty, age 22 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Failure to Control, Driving In Marked Lanes, Stopping After Accident/Leaving The Scene, Possession of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia. | |

On Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at approximately 5:00pm, an officer, while on patrol on North Leavitt Road at Park Avenue, observed a male crossing the street when the traffic had a green light. The male's actions caused vehicles to slam on their brakes to avoid striking him. The officer made contact with the male, Scott Siters, age 47 of Amherst, and an investigation was conducted. Mr. Siters was arrested and charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Crossing a Roadway outside a Crosswalk. | |

On Saturday, January 16, 2010, at approximately 1:31am, an officer, while on patrol on Tenney Avenue, performed a random registration check through his in car LEADS computer. The response showed that the vehicle registration had expired on 05/12/2009. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Matthew Opel, age 21 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Driving under Suspension, and Expired License Plates. |
