On Sunday, February 4, 2007, at 12:42pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Sunrise Drive in reference to a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the residents who stated they were involved in a verbal argument because their child disobeyed the father’s directions. An investigation was conducted and a report was made for file. Both parties denied a physical altercation occurred and showed no signs of injury. | |

On Sunday, February 4, 2007, at 8:10pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Sleepy Hollow Drive in reference to a menacing by stalking complaint. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to the complainant who stated their juvenile child had been stalked by another juvenile and the juvenile suspect had engaged in such a pattern of activity that the juvenile victim feared for their safety and well being. The juvenile suspect was later taken into custody and charged with Menacing by Stalking. | |

On Monday, February 5, 2007, at 10:12pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Brennan Drive in reference to a 911 hang up. The caller requested police then the line terminated. Upon arrival, officers spoke to both parties. While conducting the investigation, officers discovered a severed telephone cord resulting in the termination of the last call to police and a broken door resulting from the incident. Gregory Hardwick, age 35 of Amherst, was determined to be the primary physical aggressor and taken into custody. Hardwick was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence and Disrupting Public Service. | |

On Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at 9:08pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Meadowview Drive in reference to a domestic complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the caller who stated she was contacted by her son via telephone that her soon-to-be ex-husband was trying to hurt the child. An investigation was conducted due to conflicting stories and lack of physical evidence, no arrest was made. A report was made for file. | |

On Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at approximately 2:00pm, officers were dispatched to On the Edge Honda, Rice Industrial Parkway, for a theft in progress complaint. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to the owner who advised that he and a few of his employees observed a vehicle pull up to a four wheeler he had parked at the corner, remove the keys from the glove box, and jump back into his car and drive off. A short time later, a male returned and got onto the ATV and put the key in the ignition and tried to start it. Employees then stopped the male and held him until police arrived. An investigation was conducted and Richard Markel, age 18 of Amherst, and a 17 year old juvenile were arrested. Markel was charged with Complicity to Commit Grand Theft. The juvenile was charged with Grand Theft, Obstructing Official Business, and Underage Possession of Tobacco. | |

On Friday, February 9, 2007, at approximately 3:39pm, an officer, while enroute back to Amherst from the Lorain County Jail, located a vehicle parked in the middle of the road on West Ridge Road, Elyria, just south of the rail road tracks. The officer was approached by an off duty Oberlin Fire Fighter, who advised he found the driver of the vehicle slumped over behind the wheel. Contact was made with the driver, later identified as John Hazelwood, age 51 of Vermilion, and a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage was detected coming from or about his person. An investigation was conducted and an officer from the Elyria Police Department arrived on scene and took custody of Mr. Hazelwood. A report was made for file. | |

On Friday, February 9, 2007, at approximately 3:09am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of North Ridge Road east of North Leavitt Road, observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, cross over the double yellow lines in the center of the roadway several times, and weave within its lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Chris Dudek, age 24 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Driving under Suspension, Speed, Weaving, and Marked Lanes. | |

On Friday, February 9, 2007, at approximately 5:34pm, officers were dispatched to Country Day School, North Ridge Road, in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the female caller who stated her child’s father assaulted her in the parking lot. An investigation was conducted and the involved parties had conflicting stories and the female showed no signs of physical injury. A report was made for file. | |

On Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 5:18am, an officer, while on patrol on North Leavitt Road, observed a vehicle speeding and a traffic stop was initiated. While speaking with the driver, later identified as the vehicle owner, Ms. Marisa Jenkins, the officer detected a very strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from on or about her person and she exhibited signs of being intoxicated. An investigation was conducted Ms. Jenkins was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Speed, and Display of Plates. | |

On Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 2:27pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Edgewood Drive in reference to the home owner arguing with a male who put new windows in his residence. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to the homeowner who advised he hired a company to replace all the windows and he felt the job was not done to his satisfaction and he was not going to pay the remaining balance. Since the homeowner would not cooperate, the owner of the company removed the glass portion of the windows until payment was made. Both parties were both advised this was a civil matter and referred to their attorneys. A report was made for file. | |

On Saturday, February 10, 2007, at approximately 2:31pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a safe keeping request. Upon arrival, the officer met with a female who advised she had several firearms she wished to secure at the police station due to her husband being currently incarcerated for domestic violence charges. The firearms were kept for safe keeping and a report was made for file. |
