On Sunday, February 25, 2007, at 12:48am, an officer, while on patrol, observed a male walking through the parking lot of Speedway, North Leavitt Road, acting in a disorderly manner. The officer initiated contact with the male, Jose Marrero, age 24 of Lorain, and found drugs on his person. Mr. Marrero was issued a citation for Possession Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. | |

On Sunday, February 25, 2007, at approximately 2:24am, an officer, while on patrol near Park Avenue and Spring Street, observed a vehicle squealing its tires. The officer initiated a traffic stop and an investigation was conducted. | |

The driver, Joseph Mullner, age 41 of Amherst, had a very strong odor of intoxicating beverage coming from his person and glassy, red eyes. Mr. Mullner was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, and Squealing Tires. | |

On Sunday, February 25, 2007, at 9:03am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Greenlawn Drive in reference to a property damage complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the homeowner who stated he had a private snow plow company plow his driveway during the snow storm. In doing so, the plow driver inadvertently ripped up the grass at the bottom half of his property. The homeowner requested a report be made for file. | |

On Sunday, February 25, 2007, at 10:30pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department lobby in reference to a violation of a protection order and a telecommunication harassment complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complainant who advised he is still being harassed over the phone by a male he currently has a case pending against. An investigation was conducted and the case will be forwarded to the Lorain County Grand Jury on Felony Telecommunication Harassment and Felony Violating a Protection Order. | |

On Monday, February 26, 2007, at approximately 2:51am, officers were dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a disturbance in one of the rented rooms. Upon arrival, officers met with two females who advised an assault took place inside the room and the male left the room on foot. The male, Wilfred Mercado, age 24 of Lorain, was located walking northbound on North Leavitt Road. An investigation followed and Mercado was arrested and charged with Assault, Aggravated Menacing, Endangering Children, and Misuse of 911. | |

On Monday, February 26, 2007, at approximately 9:11am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Idlewood Drive in reference to a female arguing with her parents. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to the caller who advised his daughter wants to leave with her child and they do not approve. An investigation was conducted and the baby did not appear to be abused or mistreated in any way. All parties were advised that the female is an adult and is capable of making her own decisions. A report was made for file. | |

On Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at 12:09am, an officer was dispatched to the area outside of Johnny K's Bar, Park Avenue, in reference to a possible intoxicated male banging on the outside of the door and causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, the officer observed no male around, but noticed a vehicle leaving the area across the street. The vehicle was operating without the required rear license plate light illuminating the rear license plate and due to the vehicle defect, a traffic stop was initiated. The officer made contact with the driver, identified as Andrew Fowler, age 46 of Lorain, and noticed he was acting very nervous and fidgety and appeared to be exhibiting signs of being under the influence of a narcotic. After a further investigation, Mr. Fowler was found to be in possession of a pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine with burnt residue that later field tested positive for cocaine. Mr. Fowler was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and a Drug Abuse Instrument. | |

On Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at approximately 2:46pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Hamilton Street in reference to a domestic dispute between father and son. Upon arrival, the officers met the father who he called because he is tired of his 20 year old son yelling and screaming at him and his wife. An investigation was conducted and it was determined the argument was only verbal and that no physical violence occurred. The son left for the night and a report was made for file. | |

On Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at approximately 7:37am, an officer, while on patrol on South Lake Street, noticed the directional signals of his cruiser were inoperative. The officer then noticed flames coming from the passenger side rear area. The officer parked the vehicle and radioed for the Amherst Fire Department to respond. At that time, the fire extinguisher was removed from the trunk and the fire was extinguished. No one was injured as a result of the fire and a report was made for file. | |

On Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at approximately 2:00pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Marion L. Steele High School, Washington Street, for a theft and assault complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the principal who advised that two boys were attacked in the restroom and items taken from them. An investigation was conducted and the juvenile suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery and three counts of Receiving Stolen Property. He was transported to the Lorain County Detention Home. | |

On Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at approximately 11:40pm, an officer, while on patrol near 5 Points, observed a vehicle weaving from one side of the road to the other within it's lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. The driver, Alan Jacobs, age24 of Amherst, had a very strong odor of intoxicating beverage coming from his person and glassy, red eyes. Mr. Jacobs was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Weaving, Open Container, Drug Paraphernalia and Drug Abuse Marijuana. | |

On Thursday, March 1, 2007, at approximately 10:20pm, officers were dispatched to a residence on Jackson Street in reference to an unwanted male at the residence. At that time, Gregory Hopkins, age 48 of Amherst, was involved in an argument with his ex-wife. Mr. Hopkins, who was intoxicated, agreed to leave the residence and was advised not return or charges would be filed. At approximately 4:53am, Mr. Hopkins arrived back at the residence, still intoxicated, and was throwing rocks at the residence causing a disturbance. Mr. Hopkins was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting and Disturbing the Peace. | |

On Friday March 2, 2007, at 12:12am, officers were dispatched to the area of Church Street and City Parking Lot #1 in reference to a possible fight. Upon arrival, an officer noticed a leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The driver of the vehicle, later Travis Randolph, age 23 of Wellington, exited the parking lot, failed to make a complete stop before entering onto the roadway, and drove up onto the curb. Due to the traffic violations witnessed, a traffic stop was initiated and an investigation conducted. Mr. Randolph exhibited signs of being intoxicated and was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Failure to Control, Driving in Marked Lanes, Driving onto Roadway from Place Other Than the Roadway. | |

On Friday, March 2, 2007, at approximately 1:30p, an officer was advised by Amherst School staff members of a student attending Amherst Schools who does not live in the Amherst Schools District. Information concerning the student was obtained and an investigation was requested by staff members. An investigation is ongoing at this time. | |

On Friday, March 2, 2007, at 2:00pm, an officer was dispatched to the Mayflower Plaza in reference to a report of a male that was found unconscious by the end of the building. Upon arrival, the officer observed a male lying on the ground. The subject was breathing and responded to pain stimuli. There was a strong odor of a beverage containing alcohol coming from on or about his person. The male was transported to Community Health Partners for further medical treatment and a report was made for file. | |

On Friday, March 2, 2007, at approximately 3:45pm, an officer was dispatched to Beaver Court in reference to an abandoned bicycle lying in the street. Upon arrival, the officer located a rusted chrome Mongoose Chameleon boy’s bike. The brand name was in orange text on the bicycle frame. There were no brakes on the bike and the seat was black. The bicycle was taken to the city storage facility and a report was made for file. | |

On Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 12:13am, officers were dispatched to Park Lanes, Park Avenue, in reference to a male and female arguing. Upon arrival to the area, the male and female left running and one of the Park Lanes employee's was running after them. The officer made contact with the employee who advised both parties were now inside RC's Brewhouse. At that point, the officer made contact with the highly intoxicated male and female inside the bar and learned they got into an argument because she wanted to leave the bar and go home and he refused to do so. An investigation was conducted and neither party wished to file any charges. A report was made for file. | |

On Saturday, March 3, 2007, at approximately 2:56am, officers were dispatched to Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, in reference to an unwanted male in room # 143. Upon arrival, the officers met two highly intoxicated females who stated they picked up a male at a bar in Lorain and rented a room. They stated the male began to make unwanted advances and would not leave. An investigation was conducted and a report was made for file. The male was picked up by a friend and taken home. | |

On Saturday, March 3, 2007, at approximately 3:18am, an officer, while on patrol on Park Avenue, observed a male walking from one side of the roadway to the next and fall over the curb. The officer stopped the male, identified as James Brock, age 38 of Birmingham, and conducted an investigation. Mr. Brock was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication and Walking on Highways. | |

On Saturday, March 3, 2007, at approximately 4:00pm, an officer was dispatched to the Amherst Police Department in reference to a telecommunications complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised his baby's mother sent him text messages that he did not want. The messages were not threatening or inappropriate. He simply did not want text messages from her. An investigation was conducted and the female was advised not to contact the male for any reason other than child custody issues. A report was made for file. | |

On Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 10:49pm, officers were dispatched to Blue Sky Restaurant, North Leavitt Road in reference to an intoxicated male who was chasing women in the parking lot and causing a disturbance inside of the restaurant. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to the manager and an investigation was conducted. The male, identified as Gilberto Peguero, age 45 of Lorain, was located inside Taco Bell, passed out inside against the soda fountains. Mr. Peguero was arrested and charged with Disturbing the Peace, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Open Container, and Walking on a Highway Intoxicated. | |

On Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 12:37pm, officers, while on patrol at Motel 6, North Leavitt Road, observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. The officers approached the vehicle and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Jason Freeman, age 47 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine, Drug Paraphernalia, Driving under Suspension and Open Container. A female, Julia Davis, was also issued a citation for Possession Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. |
