On Sunday, December 27, 2009, at approximately 1:28am, officers were dispatched to Taco Bell, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a complaint of a heated argument occurring between the occupants of two vehicles. Upon arrival, officers met with the involved parties and an investigation followed. Brittany Johnson, age 18 of Vermilion, and William Cody Kuhn, age 18 of Vermilion, were arrested for Underage Consumption. | |

On Monday, December 28, 2009, at 10:36am, an officer was dispatched to Giant Eagle, Kresge Drive, for a theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the manager who stated that there had been a theft from the store and the suspect was on video. The male, Ronald Brletic, age 36 of Vermilion, was identified and a warrant for Theft was issued. The next day, Mr. Brletic turned himself in at the police department. | |

On Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 2:24am, officers were dispatched to the Pour House, Park Avenue, in reference to a fight in progress outside of the back door. Upon arrival, officers located the males involved and an investigation was conducted. Matthew Resch, age 26 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disturbing the Peace, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Criminal Damaging. Matthew Vimpeny, age 24 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. After further investigation into the altercation, the bar owner, John Kolcun, age 29 of Amherst was later arrested for Assault. | |

On Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at approximately 3:00pm, an officer was dispatched to Ambleside Way for two males going door to door asking to see resident’s gas bill. Upon arrival to the area, officers located three males, Michael Pittman, age 22 of Mayfield, Donathan Williams, age 18 of Maple Heights, and Christopher Taylor, age 21 of Cleveland, and an investigation was conducted. All three males were issued a citation for Soliciting without a Permit. | |

On Thursday, December 31, 2009, at 12:32am, an officer, while on patrol on Elyria Avenue near Middle Ridge Road, observed a vehicle traveling at what appeared to be a speed much greater than the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Christopher Schoen, age 28 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Speed, Stop Sign, Possession of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia. | |

On Thursday, December 31, 2009, at approximately 3:26am, officers responded to South Main Street in regards to a vehicle that struck a fire hydrant and several other items on the side of the roadway. Two witnesses were on scene and advised that a white Chevrolet station wagon left the scene and headed northbound on South Main Street, with heavy right side front end damage and two flat right side tires. Officers located the vehicle sitting in the Amherst City Lot # 1 with two males standing outside it. An investigation was conducted and the driver, Timothy Hackney, age 23 of Wakeman, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Obstructing Official Business, Destruction of Trees, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Leaving the Scene. The passenger, Dennis Jacobs, age 26 of South Amherst, was arrested and charged with Obstructing Official Business, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting. | |

On Friday, January 1, 2010, at 12:06am, an officer, while on patrol on South Lake Street, observed 5 younger juveniles walking on South Lake Street near Alexander Avenue. Due to the fact it was past curfew hours, the officer stopped the juveniles and conducted an investigation. Two of the males, ages 17 and 15, were arrested for Underage Consumption, Curfew, and Paraphernalia. Another male, age 15, was arrested for Curfew. | |

On Friday, January 1, 2010, at approximately 9:51am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Idlewood Drive regarding an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle complaint. On arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised her daughter, Melissa Szivan, age 38 of Amherst, gained access to a set of car keys, went into her open garage, and took her vehicle without her permission. An investigation was conducted and Ms. Szivan was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. |
