On Sunday, December 24, 2006, at approximately 1:08am, an officer, while on patrol, observed a vehicle weaving within its lane of travel and cross over the double yellow lines in the center of the roadway.  A traffic stop was conducted on Park Avenue near Dewey Road and an investigation followed.  The driver, Daniel Hamilton, age 19 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Weaving and Marked Lanes.

On Sunday, December 24, 2006, at approximately 10:53pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Park Avenue in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who stated that someone just stole several Christmas presents out of her vehicle.  A search of the surrounding area was conducted and the investigation was turned over to the Detective Bureau.

On Monday, December 25, 2006, at approximately 2:27am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Lincoln Street in reference to a domestic violence complaint.  Upon arrival, officers met the intoxicated male complainant.  He stated he and his girlfriend were involved in an argument that turned physical.   An investigation was conducted and a report was made for file.

On Tuesday, December 26, at approximately 4:45am, officers assisted the Lorain County Sheriff's Department with the apprehension of Wyatt Menges, age 19 of Amherst. Mr. Menges was allegedly involved in a Felonious Assault/Aggravated Menacing altercation with his girlfriend at a residence on Pyle South Amherst Road in Amherst Township.  Deputies on scene advised Menges was possibly armed with a shotgun and a box cutter.  Amherst officers and deputy units eventually located Menges at a residence on Jackson Street.  Menges was taken into custody without incident.

On Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at approximately 2:45pm, an officer responded to a residence on Elyria Avenue in reference to a follow up investigation into the Amherst Building Department complaint of property violations.  The homeowner, Eric Long, age 51, was issued a citation for Exterior Property Maintenance, Appearance of Exterior of Premises and Structures, and Structural Soundness and Repair.

On Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at 7:22pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Coventry Place in reference to a domestic disturbance complaint.  911 emergency services received a 911 call and heard background noise indicative of a domestic disturbance.  Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the female party who stated she and her husband were involved in a verbal argument and that he was intoxicated.  An investigation was conducted and a report was made for file.  Neither party wished to file a criminal complaint against the other.

On Thursday, December 28, 2006, at approximately 12:12am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on East Martin Street in reference to a missing juvenile complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised her 15 year old grandson was missing.   An investigation was conducted and the juvenile was later located and returned home.  The juvenile was charged with Unruly Child and Curfew.

On Thursday, December 28, 2006, at 1:36am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on South Main Street in reference to a found bicycle complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer located a boys BMX red Huffy Rock It with black and red protective frame pads in the bushes.  The bicycle was taken to the city storage facility and a report was made for file.

On Friday, December 29, 2006, at approximately 1:55am, officers were dispatched to The Big Eaze, Park Avenue, for an unknown disturbance.  Upon arrival, officers conducted an investigation and Darren Morales, age 39 of Lorain, was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication.

On Friday, December 29, 2006, at 2:39 pm, officers were dispatched to Giant Eagle, Kresge Drive, in reference to a theft complaint.  Upon arrival, an investigation was conducted where it was learned that an employee had detained a male shoplifter for taking store merchandise then trying to leave the store after not paying for the items.   Two juveniles, ages 12 and 11 of Lorain, were arrested for Petty Theft and Underage Possession of Tobacco.

On Saturday, December 30, 2006, at approximately 4:15pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Sleepy Hollow Drive in reference to a found bicycle.  Upon arrival, the officer located chrome Schwinn chopper style bike with an oversize wide rear tire and Orange County Chopper stickers in the driveway.  The complainant advised he found it in the bushes several days earlier.  A report was made for file and the bicycle was taken to the city storage facility.
