On Monday, December 22, 2008, at approximately 2:35pm, an officer was dispatched to Amherst Brew & Wine, Cooper Foster Park Road, in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to an employee who stated on Saturday, December 20, 2008, at approximately 8:00pm, a male entered the store and stole four bottles of Vodka valued at $151.60. The incident was captured on the store's security camera. While there speaking with the employee, another one of the store employees approached the officer and said "the same guy that stole the liquor on Saturday was just in the store and took four more". The officer obtained a description and direction of travel from several customers. The officer searched the area businesses and located the suspect male standing inside the front door at Famous Hair Company. The officer approached the male, Jerome Cannon, age 43 of Lorain, and conducted an investigation. Mr. Cannon was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Theft. | |

On Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at 2:40am, officers were dispatched to Church Street Bar and Grille, Church Street, in reference to a fight in progress on the side of the building involving multiple males. Upon arrival, the officers observed several males in the street that appeared to have just ended an altercation. An investigation was conducted and John Gilles, age 26 of Amherst, and Joshua Gilles, age 28 of Amherst, were issued citations for Disorderly Conduct Persisting. | |

On Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at approximately 4:30pm, an officer was dispatched to Target, Oak Point Road, in reference to a theft in progress complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the store security officer who advised he observed a female, later identified as Jodi Fleming, age 41 of Fremont, take numerous items into the restroom. Ms. Fleming came out of the restroom and empty packages were found inside. She was stopped as she left the store and the missing items were recovered. Ms. Fleming was arrested and charged with Theft. | |

On Saturday, December 27, 2008, at approximately 12:47am, officers were dispatched to McDonald's Restaurant, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a male reportedly throwing food at a vehicle and threatening subjects with a crow bar. The complainant provided a description of the vehicle and a license plate to dispatch. Upon arrival, the suspect vehicle was observed exiting the parking lot of McDonald's Restaurant and turning southbound on North Leavitt Rd. At that time a traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Jason Traut, age 25 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08, Open Container and Menacing. The investigation also resulted in the passenger, Karen Deerhake, age 23 of Marblehead, being arrested for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Wrongful Entrustment. | |

On Saturday, December 27, 2008, at approximately 3:09am, an officer, while on patrol on Leavitt Road and Cleveland Avenue, observed a vehicle traveling without the front headlights illuminated. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle at Cleveland Avenue and South Leavitt Road but was unable to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle finally stopped near Woodside Drive and South Leavitt Road and the female driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. Officers searched the area and she was eventually tracked by K9 Bandit and apprehended. An investigation was conducted and the 15 year old female from Lorain was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use, Curfew, No Drivers License, Prohibitions Tobacco, Open Container, Lighted Lights, Underage Consumption, Operating Vehicle Underage Consumption, Obstructing Official Business, Fleeing/Eluding, Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana. The investigation also resulted in the passenger, James Harwood, age 18 of Lorain, being arrested for Underage Consumption. |
