On Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at approximately 5:31am, an officer, while on patrol on East Avenue and Franklin Avenue, observed a group of males, who appeared to be juveniles, walking in the middle of the road.  Due to the time of morning, the officer stopped the males and conducted an investigation.  Derek Harris, age 18 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Contributing to the Delinquently of a Minor (2 Counts), Obstructing Official Business, Underage, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication, and Walking along Highways Intoxicated.  Two juveniles, both age 15, were charged with Curfew, and Underage Consumption.

On Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at 3:26am, officers were dispatched to Denny's Restaurant, North Leavitt Road, in reference to a disturbance involving a female inside of the restaurant.  Upon arrival, the officers met with an employee who stated the female was causing a disturbance and multiple costumers complained about her striking her young daughter.  The officers made contact with the female in question, Wendy Ditzler, age 25 of Elyria, who was very unsteady on her feet, her speech was very slurred and her movements were slow and deliberate.  She exhibited signs of being under the influence of some type of narcotic.  An investigation was conducted and Ms. Ditzler was arrested and charged with Possession of Drugs (2 counts), and Drug Paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at approximately 2:31pm, officers were dispatched to Amherst IGA, Milan Avenue, in regarding to a shoplifter being in custody.  Upon arrival, an officer met with the owner who advised he caught a male shoplifting a bottle of alcohol from the store.  An investigation was conducted and the male, Brett Hanchin, age 20 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Theft and Prohibition-Possession of Alcohol.

On Saturday, December 26, 2009, at approximately 2:41am, an officer, while on patrol on North Main Street near Cooper Foster Park Road, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side in its lane of travel and cross over the white line to the right side of the vehicle several times.  At one point the vehicle nearly struck a mailbox and the ditch to the right side of the vehicle.  A traffic stop was conducted and an investigation was conducted.  The driver, Cory Naro, age 22 of Illinois, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Weaving, and Marked Lanes.
