On Sunday, August 26, 2007, at approximately 1:07am, an officer, while on patrol on North Leavitt Road, observed a vehicle exit the entrance lane from Denny's Restaurant and travel southbound weaving within its lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Connie Younkin, age 51 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Marked Lanes, and Open Container. | |

On Sunday, August 26, 2007, at 3:49am, officers were dispatched to Denny's Restaurant in reference to a fight in progress inside the restaurant. Upon arrival, several employees pointed out the suspect who was driving away from the area. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. It was determined that the driver, Robert Welch, age 38 of Lorain, was involved in the fight. Mr. Welch also had bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech and an odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from his person. Mr. Welch was arrested and charged with Felony Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated (6th offense), State Refusal, Driving under Suspension, Theft, Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, and Open Container. | |

On Sunday, August 26, 2007, at approximately 4:18pm, officers were dispatched to Wyvill's Marathon, Cleveland Avenue, in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, officers learned three juveniles entered the establishment and took money from the counter. Two of the juveniles were being detained at the scene and the third left the area on foot. An investigation was conducted and the third juvenile was later located. He was charged with Theft and Unruly Juvenile. The other two males were charged with Complicity to Theft and Unruly Juvenile. | |

On Tuesday August 28, 2007, at 12:00pm, an officer was dispatched to the area of Long Street in reference to an abandoned (possibly stolen) vehicle parked adjacent to the Lorain County Metro-Parks property. Upon arrival, the officer located the vehicle and checked the registration in the LEADS computer. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen out of Lorain Police Department. An investigation was conducted and turned over to Lorain Police Department. | |

On Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at 11:56pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Cleveland Avenue in reference to a bicycle theft complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the bicycle owner who stated an unknown person(s) entered his garage and stole his black and silver Roadmaster mountain style bicycle. A report was taken for file. | |

On Thursday, August 30, 2007, at 11:31 am, an officer was dispatched to Hot Dog Heaven, Cleveland Avenue, in reference to a found bicycle. Upon arrival, the officer met with employees who advised that there had been a bicycle leaning against the building since Tuesday. A report was taken for file and the bicycle was transported to the police department. | |

On Thursday, August 30, 2007, at approximately 11:28pm, officers were dispatched to the Amherst Hospital in reference to a male who had overdosed on heroin. Emergency room personnel advised the male, Christopher Khoury, age 26 of Vermilion, was left inside of a vehicle in their parking lot by a female, later identified at Rebecca Corbin, age 28 of Vermilion, and that their 6 year-old child was left there with him. An investigation was conducted and it was learned that both Corbin and Khoury had partaken in narcotics during the evening while in the presence of the child. Erie County Children’s Services was contacted and took control of the child. Ms. Corbin was arrested and charged with Drug Abuse of Cocaine and Child Endangering. Mr. Khoury was transported to Elyria Memorial Hospital and later arrested and charged with Drug Abuse of Cocaine, Drug Abuse of Heroin, Disorderly Conduct Persisting, and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Friday, August 31, 2007, at approximately 2:29am, an officer was dispatched to the area of the Amherst Hospital, Cleveland Avenue, in reference to a vehicle leaving the parking lot that had been involved in an arrest earlier that evening at which time the vehicle owner, Rebecca Corbin, was ordered to leave the vehicle in the parking lot for the evening until a valid driver could pick it up. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop due to the owner of the vehicle being suspended and several other violations observed, but the vehicle continued without complying. Multiple police departments were involved in the pursuit of the vehicle and spike strips were placed in the roadway. The vehicle hit the strips and finally came to a stop on State Route 57 near State Route 113. The driver, Rebecca Corbin, was again taken into custody and charged with Felony Fleeing, Felony Obstructing, Failure to Comply With Lawful Order, DUS, Driving Marked Lanes, and Weaving. | |

On Saturday, September 1, 2007, at approximately 12:37am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of North Main Street and Cooper Foster Park Road, observed a weaving from side to side within its lane of travel, and crossed over the solid white line to the right side of the vehicle several times. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Richard Banas, age 50 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, State Refusal, Marked Lanes, and Weaving. | |

On Saturday, September 1, 2007, at approximately 2:17am, an officer, while on patrol in the area of Park Avenue and Jackson Street, observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lane and also drive over the curb lawn and partially onto the sidewalk. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Thomas Zeise, age 21 of Lorain, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC Over 170%, Open Container, and Marked Lanes. |
