On Sunday, August 17, 2008, at approximately 12:12am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Lincoln Street in reference to a bicycle accident. Upon arrival, the officer learned that Elaine Wiezorek, age 28 of Florida, crashed her bike into a resident’s lawn and sustained injury. Ms. Wiezorek was highly intoxicated, being uncooperative, and began throwing punches at the officer. An investigation was conducted and Ms. Wiezorek was charged with Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Persisting and Reckless Operation on a Bicycle. | |

On Sunday, August 17, 2008, at 3:11am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Elyria Avenue in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, the officers met with the victim who advised she was punched in the face by her husband Paul Sroka, age 42 of Amherst, because she advised him that she wanted to move out. The victim had visible bruising to the right eyebrow region and the area underneath her right eye. An investigation was conducted and Mr. Sroka was later arrested and charged with Domestic Violence. | |

On Sunday, August 17, 2008, at approximately 3:49am, officers were dispatched to Pinecrest Apartments, Middle Ridge Road, in reference to a motor vehicle accident with injury. Upon arrival, the officers located a vehicle in the ditch and the owner, Justin Brewer, age 25 of Amherst, walking around. An investigation was conducted and Mr Brewer was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, and Failure to Control. | |

On Monday, August 18, 2008, at approximately 2:33pm, an officer was dispatched to West Martin Street, in reference to an injury accident. Upon arrival, the officer located a single car accident with the driver still in the vehicle. An investigation was conducted and the driver, William Rusin, age 52 of Lorain, was charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Safety Belt, Open Container and Failure to Control. Mr. Rusin was transported by Lifecare from the scene to CHP for treatment. | |

On Monday, August 18, 2008, at approximately 8:30pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on South Main Street for a female, known as Sherry Perkins, outside wearing nothing but a t-shirt and screaming obscenities. The complainant advised that there were several children around that were seeing everything take place. Upon arrival, an investigation was conducted and Ms. Perkins was arrested and charged with Burglary, Disturbing the Peace, Indecent Exposure, and Disorderly Conduct. | |

On Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at 8:44am, an officer was dispatched to the area of Franklin Avenue and East Street in reference to an abandon bicycle. Upon arrival, the officer located a small boy’s bicycle lying on the ground next to a traffic sign. The bicycle was taken and placed into storage at the Amherst Police Department. A recovered bike form was completed. Anyone missing the bicycle should contact the police department with a further description. | |

On Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at approximately 11:35pm, an officer, while on patrol on Middle Ridge Road near Elyria Avenue, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side in its lane of travel and at one point the vehicle crossed over the double yellow line to the left side of the vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The female driver, age 17 of Wellington, was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .170%, Underage Consumption, Weaving, Marked Lanes, and Unsafe Vehicle. The female passenger, age 16 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Underage Consumption, Possession of Cocaine, and Drug Abuse Instrument. | |

On Thursday, August 21, 2008, at 2:17am, an officer, while on patrol at Speedway, North Leavitt Road, observed a male stumbling and tripping through the parking lot. The officer made contact with the male, Shaun Lynch, age 21 of Amherst, and an investigation was conducted. Mr. Lynch was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Thursday, August 21, 2008, at 8:44am, an officer was dispatched to a residence on English Lakes in reference to an abandon bicycle. Upon arrival, this officer spoke with the homeowner who stated he found a small boys bicycle lying on the ground next to a traffic sign. The bicycle was taken and placed into storage at the Amherst Police Department. A recovered bike form was completed. Anyone missing the bicycle should contact the police department with a further description. | |

On Friday, August 22, 2008, at approximately 1:25am, an officer, while on patrol on Elyria Avenue near Autumn Drive, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side in its lane of travel and make a wide turn onto Middle Ridge Road. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, Terence Bailey, age 47 of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Turning at Intersections, Weaving Course, and Expired License Plates. | |

On Friday, August 22, 2008, an officer was dispatched to the area of Pinecrest Apartments, Middle Ridge Road, in reference to an abandoned bicycle lying near the roadway. On arrival, the officer located a girl's bicycle lying near the side of the creek. The bicycle was taken and placed into storage at the Amherst Police Department. A recovered bike form was completed.
