On Monday, August 2, 2010, at approximately 9:50pm, an officer was dispatched to Shupe School for suspicious males in the area. Upon arrival, the officer located three males in a parked car at the southern part of the parking lot in an unlit area. After an investigation, Corey Spanos, age 21 of Amherst, Craig Hood, age 21 of Elyria, and a 17 year old male, were issued citations for Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia. | |

On Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 12:47am, an officer, while on patrol on Lincoln Street in front of Nord School, observed a vehicle traveling through the parking lot on the north side of the school heading towards the back parking lot. Due to the fact Nord School is closed and no one should be on the property at the time, the officer stopped the vehicle and conducted an investigation. The 17 year old driver was arrested and charged Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Underage Consumption, Unruly Child, and Curfew. | |

On Thursday, August 5, 2010, at approximately 11:55pm, an officer was dispatched to Taco Bell, North Leavitt Road, in regards to a male walking around in the parking lot with a knife asking people for money and a ride. Upon arrival, the officer located the male, James Jones, age 22 of Akron, and an investigation was conducted. Mr. Jones was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication. | |

On Friday, August 6, 2010, at approximately 2:22am, an officer, while on patrol on Milan Avenue, observed a vehicle weaving from side to side in its westbound lane of travel and several times made contact with the center double yellow lines. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation was conducted. The driver, 17 years old of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Underage Consumption, Curfew, Weaving Course, and Marked Lanes. The passenger, 17 years old of Lorain, was issued a citation for Underage Consumption. | |

On Friday, August 6, 2010, at approximately 4:35am, an officer, while on patrol on Terra Lane near Columbia, observed a juvenile male and a juvenile female walking northbound on the sidewalk. The officer approached them and conducted an investigation. The male, age 16, and the female, age 15, both of Amherst, advised that their parents did not know they were together and out walking. The female was taken home and released to a parent. The male was charged with Curfew and cited into the Diversion Program. He was released to a parent at the police department. | |

On Friday, August, 6, 2010, at 6:51pm, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Van Oaks Drive in regards to a violation of a protection order complaint. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised she received a text message from her ex boyfriend, Jeffrey Cook, age 53 of Amherst, who she has an active civil protection order against. An investigation was conducted and a warrant was issued for Violation of TPO. Mr. Cook responded to the Amherst Police Department on August 8, 2010 and was arrested on the charges. | |

On Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 12:32am, an officer, while on patrol on Milan Avenue, observed a male riding a bicycle without lights in a weaving motion in the middle of the west bound lane. The officer approached the male, Matthew Johnson, age 21 of Amherst, and conducted an investigation. Mr. Johnson was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication and Lights on Bicycle. He was released to a friend at the scene. | |

On Saturday, August 7, 2010, at approximately 1:55am, an officer, while on patrol downtown, observed two females in the Amherst City Lot # 3 pushing and yelling at each other. The officer stopped, separated the two females and conducted an investigation. One of females, Kaitlyn Drwal, age 20 out of Lorain, was found to be intoxicated and underage. Ms. Drwal was cited for Disorderly Conduct Intoxication, Underage Consumption and Open Container. | |

On Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 7:36pm, an officer, while on foot patrol downtown for Dancing on Main Street, observed a male, James Torrence, age 18 of Amherst, who had an active warrant entered for his arrest out of the Lorain County Sheriff's Office due to standing orders with the Lorain County Detention Home. The officer approached Mr. Torrence, grabbed his right arm and asked him to walk towards the sidewalk. After walking a few steps the male pulled away from the officer and fled on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued and he was apprehended behind Ziggy's Bar. Mr. Torrence was later transported from the scene to the Lorain County Detention Home on their warrant and will be charged with Obstructing Official Business and Resisting Arrest upon his release. |
