On Sunday, April 5, 2009, at 1:15am, an officer was dispatched to Park Avenue in regards to a minivan that had just struck at least two cars and was leaving the scene.  Upon arrival into the area, the officer located the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated.  An investigation was conducted and the driver, Jennifer Buckingham, age 25 of Elyria, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, BAC over .08%, Assured Clear Distance, and Failure to Control.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 4:00am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Terra Lane in regards to a house that was struck by a truck and then left the scene.  Upon arrival, officers observed the south side of the house to be destroyed.  The garage door was knocked down and lying on the vehicle inside.  An investigation in the neighborhood was conducted and the driver, Andrew Murray, age 19 of Lorain, was later located.  Mr. Murray was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated, Underage Consumption, BAC over .170, Failure to Control, and Stopping after Accident with Realty Involved.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at approximately 8:05pm, officers were dispatched to the area of State Route 2 in reference to a report of a possible intoxicated driver.  Upon arrival into the area, the officers located the vehicle in question and a traffic stop was initiated.  An investigation was conducted and the driver, Lawrence Campana, age 55 of Vermilion, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated and Marked Lanes.

On Friday, April 10, 2009, at 5:19pm, an officer was dispatched to the lobby of the Amherst Police Department in regards to an assault complaint.  Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim who advised that she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Raul Ortiz, age 28 of North Ridgeville .  An investigation was conducted and a warrant was issued for Mr. Ortiz's arrest for assault.  He was later located and transported to the Amherst City Jail.
